World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. They also boost extra bonuses, such as crit chance and PvE damage.

If the weapon's upgrade template is in %, the weapon will increase 3% of its previous attack damage every time it's upgraded.

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the item's level increases.

Components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, armor, and weapons to give them a boost in stats or an extra effect. They can be obtained through crafting, purchasing from vendors or trading with other players, or looting. Some upgrades can also be accompanied by special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment that has a slot for them. The item must have been at the very least upgraded to blue level in order for the component to be applied. Upgrade components, unlike other modifications, can only be applied once. They cannot be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and enrichments are a special kind of upgrade component that is designed for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment, as well as some of the items that are not ascending back. Infusions and enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment that is ascended or completing a quest in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

A suffix or prefix can be added to an upgrade, changing the name of the item it's used on (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' becomes Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Some upgrades boost an item's Mark Level, or Rarity, allowing players to make stronger versions of the equipment that require less Upgrade Crystals than is required to achieve the same level of upgrade through normal methods.

A boost upgrade can alter the defense or attack properties of a weapon, or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist the upgrades can be made at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades can be obtained by purchasing them from the cash shop or obtaining them from enemies when upgrading other equipment.

Each upgrade increases the chance that a higher-tier version of an item upgrader will be revealed in the next reset. This gives players a reason to upgrade their equipment even when they're not sure how much it will be improved after a reset.

Whether a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process can be costly and there is a significant chance that the item could be obsolete or even break if it fails. A unsuccessful upgrade could destroy Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. This is mitigated by the availability of cash shop items to double or even eliminate possibility of failure, as well as some upgrades that offer a bonus when reinserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade elements that can be placed in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs boost the power of nodes within a radius, which includes any pre-existing attaches. Glyphs are upgraded in many ways. We recommend upgrading them as quickly as possible to level 15.

You will often find in the final game that placing Glyphs is the best method to upgrade your gear. These are the only upgrade components which can be upgraded to level 15 and offer significant boosts to your power on the Paragon Board.

Glyphs, the only upgrade component that can be removed without restriction and then replaced with no restrictions, are the most common. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and rebuilt with a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

Each Glyph has a specific range of values can enhance a stat by, and the value is shown when you choose the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with another Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.

You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of a Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain gathering tools that are unlimited-use, and through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt has the chance of dropping one of the various Glyphs and there are also a few rare Glyphs that can be found as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

When you have the desired Glyphs, you will have to attach them to your gear. Each Glyph will unlock a unique bonus that can boost the stats of a particular set of nodes in the vicinity of the Glyph. It could be +40 for one of your primary stats, or +25 for two of your secondary stats, based on the Glyph.

Glyphs boost all nodes that are connected to them, so it is recommended to place Glyphs in key places on the Graph. This will maximize the impact. Druids, for instance should put their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They might also want to consider placing them near their primary damage nodes.

Leveling

The item upgrader kit upgrading system lets players increase the stats of certain items by placing upgraded components into them. This is referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item has a level that determines the final statistics. Upgraded items can be leveled to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each item level requires a different amount of components and the costs for upgrading increase as the item is advanced in level.

Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient can be obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or found on the upgrade tab in the crafting table. Each completed Upgrade Recipe yields a number of Technology Points. These points can be used to upgrade the item, and when enough points are earned, the upgrade will be claimed and any additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When a player upgrades an item it is replaced with a new item of the same kind. This means that the same armor piece will become a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will have a unique bonus. This can be a downside in that the item could be more expensive even if you don't need it.

If the player has enough tokens they can reroll item upgrades. The item will be replaced with the same item, but it is based on a level 1 base and completely different bonuses. This is a good option for certain items, but it's not something that should be performed frequently, since it can use up many resources.

Some upgrades can increase their value, allowing players to customize their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it provides buffs when the player repeatedly enters or leaves the water. The item can be upgraded multiple times and increases the maximum roll each time by 10 increments. This item is highly valuable in PvP. A well-rolled version can be worth as much as 50x the value of its non-upgraded counterpart.

Requirements

Item upgrading allows players to increase the level of their equippable gear--armor, weapons and trinkets over ilvl 385 by presenting the appropriate items and currency to an item upgrader NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also increase the defense base of that piece, while upgrading weapon equipment will increase the damage base as well as the required strength and dexterity to meet the upgraded equipment's requirements.

Each item can be upgraded up to five times, except for hero gear which can be upgraded up to eight times. Each time you upgrade a piece of equipment, it has a chance of failing. The probability of failure increases as you move beyond the maximum number. Failures can result in the item reverting to its original state and the player having to purchase more resources than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum amount.

If an item does not upgrade the amount of experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. In addition the item will be deducted any bonuses it gained such as crit chance and attack damage, as well as any additional effects associated with that effect (for instance, an increase in heal over time or reload speed). The player is able to use their weapon or armor even after the failure.

If an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied in order from lowest to highest. This means that the weapon that is upgraded gains a crit chance increase that it will be applied before any attack damage increases. A new attribute called Slots is now added to the item definition and the value is calculated every time an upgrade is made.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equivalent to its value. For example an item of common use could have five upgrades at a cost. 25,600 Technology Points and 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items will have a much lower cost for each additional upgrade.

Premium items could require different upgrades than standard gear. For instance they might require less sowels, but they will require more minerals and orons. The player will need to take every piece of equipment they want to upgrade to NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. Each upgrade to equipment requires different amounts of upgrade ingredients in addition to the cost listed above.
