If you don't want your hands dirty, then robotic vacuum cleaners are ideal. They save time and effort in comparison to manual cleaning and are perfect for homes with one storey or flats.
Smart features are a bonus. This includes mapping technology that will remember the arrangement of your home, avoiding furniture or rugs, and getting into those nipples underneath low furniture that larger robots struggle to reach.
iRobot Roomba J7+
The iRobot Roomba J7+ is an upgrade on the previous model of the company and incorporates new technology to make it more efficient at avoiding pet waste. It uses smart mapping and navigation to make maps of floors and rooms and works hard to avoid obstacles like charging cords, furniture and shoes. It also detects dirt, and prioritise areas of cleaning that are particularly filthy. This is a major improvement over older models that often ignore dirtiest spots or only clean them for a brief period of time.
The robot vacuum is equipped with a self-emptying base that can place dustbin debris in its own 2.4L dirt bag. iRobot claims that the bag will hold debris for up to 60 days, which means you only have to empty it and replace it every three months. The base station can also hold bags for spares and quick replacements.
The Roomba is simple to set up and use. It is compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant, and can be controlled through the iRobot Genius App. Using the app, you can choose to start and stop cleaning, determine the duration it should be able to spend on each task and then create a timetable.
During our testing we found that the iRobot Roomba J7+ cleaned flooring and area rug surfaces in the foyer, family room and kitchen with no problem. It was quiet and listened to us as it worked. The decibel meter recorded only 64db during operation. It took approximately 90 minutes to complete one cleaning, and its battery required an hour and 58 minutes to recharge following the cleaning. You can also expand your iRobot ecosystem by using the Combo j7, which allows you to pair it with the iRobot mop m6 and let one mop while the other one moves around the room.
Dyson 360 Viz Nav
The Dyson 360 Viz Nav is the best automatic vacuum robot vacuum cleaner for anyone living in a multi-floor house. This model can create maps for several floors and save them into the app. It is then easy to move between spaces without having the setup process repeated. The robot can also be controlled via voice, and can be controlled by Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
Dyson has taken a different approach to obstacle detection than other robot vacs, using sensors and cameras. A panoramic camera mounted on the robot's top, along with 26 sensors external, help create an outline of the robot vacuums best's movements. This allows the robot to avoid furniture and obstacles.
In our tests, we observed that the Dyson 360 Vis Nav could reach all the way to baseboards and edges, and could navigate through furniture with tight corners. The suction of the robot was powerful, and it was able to take every dust speck hair, hair strand and dried-out piece of Playdoh that we threw at it. The vacuum also pulled the bin out easily and quickly, reducing cleanup time by half.
However the Dyson 360 Viz Nav didn't perform as well as other robots in our obstacle-avoidance test. It had a tough time with a drying rack that it repeatedly tried to scoot under, eventually becoming stuck and disrupting the cleaning cycle. It also struggled to evade some taller pieces of furniture, like the coffee table or a chair. The Dyson 360 Vis Nav also isn't able to climb stairs, which is a problem for many people who live in multi-story homes.
Roborock
Roborock robot vacuum cleaners provide high-end cleaning features that are an upgrade from the other. They have dual mop heads that spin while pressing down to effortlessly lift staining. They also automatically lift when vacuuming carpets, to keep streaks of dirt from being left behind and re-clogging the vacuum with dirt. They can suction up to 5,500 Pa which is superior in the removal of dirt and dust. They also have smart water flow controls to ensure the right amount of moisture is absorbed by each floor type.
Roborock's ability to map your entire home with laser technology is among its most impressive capabilities. The LiDAR system on the Roborock robot constantly rotates, emitting laser beams and calculating the amount of time it takes for them to bounce back from surrounding objects. This information is used to create a real-time map of your home permitting the robot to navigate precisely and avoid obstacles.
Based on the model you select You can personalize your map to include No-Go zones, furniture placements and room-specific cleaning. You can also select a routine to vacuum only mop, or vacuum+mop, and schedule regular cleaning with an app-based cleaning schedule that allows you to set it and forget it.
Roborock offers a range of options, ranging from the budget-friendly S6 MaxV to the most expensive S7 MaxV. All feature advanced mapping capabilities, high-performance battery life, and a large capacity dustbin. The docking station offers many options, including charging and refilling the hot water tank. In the UK, they also have a two-year guarantee.
Beko RCV 5
The Beko RCV 5 may be a relative newcomer in the robotic vacuum and mopping industry but its sleek style and reasonable cost have already made it a cult. The robot comes with a few tricks on its sleeves that make it stand out from the competition, including object recognition and self-emptying functionality. It's also simple to install and use, thanks to an easy-to-use app that allows you to customize many settings to suit your preferences.
The navigation system of this model uses sensors and mapping technology to navigate your home, and it does an excellent job of staying clear of obstacles. The app lets you modify the cleaning route so that certain areas can be cleaned more often. The app is a bit confusing at first however once you get hang of it, you'll be able to plan your cleaning schedule and monitor the power of your robot effortlessly.
Despite its impressive array of features, the RCV 5 is not without its faults. First of all, it has an extremely small water tank that holds up to 240 ml of water at one time. While this is enough to perform an ordinary wipe clean, it's not ideal to remove stubborn stains. The plate that wipes is also devoid of a rotation or vibration function.
In addition, the battery's lifespan isn't as long as one would expect from a robot at this price. The RCV 5's battery only lasts for about a third of a cleaning cycle. This isn't a dealbreaker but it's something to consider when you are looking for a new robotic vacuum cleaner.
Karcher RCV 5
Karcher is a German manufacturer renowned for its pressure washers, has entered into the robot vacuum cleaners best vacuum market with a model which vacuums and mop. The RCV 5 has a range of amazing features, including excellent obstacle detection using a dual-laser system and mapping that can be monitored in real time via the smart app.
It can also detect carpeted surfaces and triggers mopping mode that is wet. It also has a spot cleaning function that intensely cleans a localised area of approximately 3 feet. It can also be programmed for weekly repetition. The RCV 5 is a good robot cleaner with a suction capacity of 2500 pascals. It can clean both hard and soft flooring and can reach into corners and underneath furniture with low levels.
Like many modern robots, the RCV 5 has a smartphone-powered application known as Karcher Home Robots. It can be used to start cleaning and manage home maps. It's also possible to set up virtual walls and zones within which the RCV 5 isn't able to drive, and numerous other controls.
The RCV 5 has a downside in that its dust container is just a litre and it'll require regular emptying. This is in contrast to other models that incorporate disposal technology within their docking station. It's also heavier than many of its competitors which makes it less mobile, and thus requiring more space in the charging station. The RCV 5 was highly rated by testers for its ease of use and app control. It did well in our tests, but some testers had difficulty getting its voice technology to function effectively.
