The best robot vacuum cleaner and mop Robot Hoover
The best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and it will leave your floors clean. Its affordable price and high-end features (such as dirt detector) are positives.
Be sure to check your robot's brushes for hair that is tangled and large particles and clean them as needed. Certain models also automatically empty the dust bin on board and then deposit it in an additional bin at the base. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust that gets released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They have top-of-the-line motors that can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobot models (including the top pick) they utilize smart mapping technology to create detailed floor plans and avoid home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also feature a feature called Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors They're also particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to get stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate rooms with lots of people well during our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.
It's still a great deal, especially if your home or office has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also extremely quiet and can be used while you're at work or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming that is offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on for long and don't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with a self-emptying dock, though. If you need to, the mopping pad can be replaced with one that is wet in just a few minutes.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has a powerful suction and self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, but it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.
This highly efficient mop and vacuum combination utilizes advanced sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste, and it learns the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can change the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones with the well-designed app. It has a battery lifespan that is similar to other models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mops. This helps prevent cross contamination. Its flex arm is also great for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot hoover and mop vacuum/mop to complete the entire house with the battery at 66 percent left. It did a good cleaning job on a variety of flooring and rooms with different flooring types including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was superb, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.
It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen before on other robot vacuum cleaners uk vacuum/mop combination.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competitors' compact models, this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most appealing looking in our tests. The latest model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It features advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads on its own).
It's also the only robot auto vacuum and mop/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to the combination of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.
The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has an intuitive mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's still quite a noisy unit, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you try to sleep.
It's also quite expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing with a bit more noise and some extra cost this is a capable two-in-one that should satisfy most people.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum cleaners uk vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features that let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner that is similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and fills up the water tank, and cleans and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles, making it more efficient than its top rivals. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was sometimes confused with obstructions or power cords.
The vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house according to how dirty they tend to be.
For larger houses, it's worth opting for a model that has zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one particular area of your home using the app or voice controls. If you have a lot of furniture, a stairway mode is also useful. For families that are busy, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to resume where it left off could be extremely useful.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you might expect from its price tag. It's a pro at vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with only one pad and a reciprocating motion that cleans better that most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tested. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying base that can be washed.
The iRobot application is designed to guide you through the mapping process which collects information about your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to set up a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for better performance. The app also grants access to many options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It can also reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. You can also create a spot-clean that scours a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it is more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums that we have test. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
