In Path of Exile, item upgrading is among the best ways to improve your equipment without relying on massive drops or trade. This article will teach you how to upgrade your items efficiently.

Upgrades to equipment provide a bonus on the item's stats. The bonus increases with upgrade component level and rarity.

Components

Upgrade components can make your armour and weapons better. They can be found through destroying enemies, buying them from karma vendors, or finding them in items-spheres. You can also salvage them from equipment containing the components, or by utilizing high-tier salvage kits such as Black Lion Salvage Kit and Ascended Salvage Tool. Unlike most other items upgrade components, upgrade components aren't destroyed when removed from an item.

The main function of upgrade components is to enable an item to be upgraded however, they also serve other functions. They can be stacked to increase the quality of an item that can be upgraded or they can be used to boost the amount of experience gained from upgrading an existing weapon or piece of equipment. Sets
