Robot vacuum cleaners are perfect for those who don't want getting your hands dirty. They save time and effort in comparison to manual cleaning, and are great for flats or single-storey homes.
Smart features are a bonus. These include mapping technology that can remember your home's layout, and staying clear of furniture and rugs, and avoiding those nipples underneath furniture that larger robots have to contend with.
iRobot Roomba J7+
The iRobot Roomba J7+, an upgrade from the previous model by the company, adds new technology that makes it more efficient in avoiding pet waste. It makes use of smart mapping to create maps of floors and rooms and is able to avoid obstacles like furniture, charging cords and shoes. It can also detect dirt and prioritise areas for cleaning that are filthy. This is a major improvement over previous models that sometimes ignore the dirty spots or only clean them for a brief period of time.
The robot vacuum is fitted with a self-emptying base that can put dustbin debris into its own 2.4L dirt bag. iRobot claims that the bag can store debris for up to 60 days, which means you'll only need to empty it and replace it every three months. The base station also comes with a spare bag that can be used to replace the bag in a snap.
The Roomba is easy to set-up and use. It is compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant, and can be controlled via the iRobot Genius App. Using the app, you can decide to begin and stop cleaning, set the amount of time it will be able to spend on each task and create a schedule.
During our testing, the iRobot Roomba J7+ cleaned flooring and area rug surfaces in the foyer, family room and kitchen without a problem. It listened to our commands and carried out its tasks quietly, recording just 64db on the decibel meter when it was in the operation. It took around 90 minutes to complete one cleaning and its battery took one hour and 58 minutes to recharge following the cleaning. The Combo J7 lets you increase the size of your iRobot eco-system by pairing it with the iRobot Mop M6. One can run while the other moves about the room.
Dyson 360 Viz Nav
The Dyson 360 Viz Nav is the best rated robot vacuum robot vacuum cleaner for those who live in a multi-floored home. This model can create maps of multiple floors and save them to the app, making it easy to switch between different rooms without repeating the setup procedure. The robot is controlled via voice commands, such as Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
Dyson has taken a different approach to obstacle detection than other robot vacuums, employing sensors and cameras. A panoramic camera that is mounted on the robot's top, together with 26 sensors external, creates a map as it moves. This allows the robot to avoid furniture and obstacles.
In our tests during our tests, the Dyson 360 Vis Nav was able to reach right up to edges and baseboards. It could also be easily guided around furniture pieces with extremely tight corners. The suction of the robot cleaner with mop was strong, and it was able to pick up every speck of dust, strand of hair and dried-out piece of Playdoh that we threw at it. The vacuum removed the bin quickly and easily, cutting down on the cleaning time by half.
The Dyson 360 Viz Nav did not perform as well as other robots we evaluated in our obstacle avoidance tests. It had trouble avoiding the drying rack that was temporarily in place that it was unable to maneuver under. It eventually got stuck and interrupted the cleaning cycle. It also had difficulty navigating some taller pieces of furniture such as the coffee table or a chair. The Dyson 360 Vis Nav also has a problem climbing stairs which is a major issue for many who live in multi-story houses.
Roborock
Roborock robot vacuums are equipped with high-end features that make them stand out from the crowd. This includes dual mops that spin while pressing down, and then effortlessly lift staining. They also lift automatically when vacuuming carpets to prevent streaks of dirt from forming and re-clogging vacuums. They can suction up to 5,500 Pa which is the best for dust and dirt removal. In addition to this they also have an intelligent water flow control that can ensure the right amount of moisture for every flooring type.
Roborock's ability to map your entire home with laser technology is one of its most impressive features. The LiDAR system of Roborock is a Roborock robotic arm is constantly rotating emitting lasers, and measuring how long it takes to bounce off the other objects. This data is then used to construct a real-time map of your home's layout that allows it to navigate with precision and avoid obstacles.
Based on the model you choose depending on the model you select, you can modify the map to include no-go zones, furniture placements and a specific room's cleaning. You can also choose an option to clean only mop or automatic vacuum and mop and mop, and plan regular cleanings using an app-based cleaning routine that lets you set it and forget it.

They also have docks that provide a variety of options, such as charging and hot water tank refilling. They also are covered by a two-year guarantee in the UK.
Beko RCV 5
The Beko RCV 5 is a relative newcomer to the robotic vacuum and mopping scene and is already making some waves with its sleek design and decent price. The Beko RCV 5 has a few tricks in its sleeve to make it stand out from its competitors, such as self-emptying and object recognition. It's easy to set up and use using an easy-to-use application that lets you to alter the options.
The navigation system of this model uses a combination of sensors and mapping technology to guide your home and does an excellent job of avoiding obstacles. You can also alter the cleaning route using the app, making it easier to clean certain areas more often than others. The app may be confusing at first but once you've mastered how to use it, you'll be able schedule cleanings, and control the robot's power levels.
Despite its impressive list of features, the RCV 5 is not without its faults. It has an extremely small water tank that can hold up to 240 milliliters of water at a time. Although this is sufficient to perform the basic wipe clean, it's not the best automatic vacuum cleaner for removing staining that is difficult to remove. The wiping plate also lacks a rotation or vibration function.
The battery life of the robots in this price range is not as long as one might imagine. The RCV 5's battery lasts about a third a cleaning cycle. This isn't necessarily a deal-breaker however, it is something to be aware of when searching for an updated robotic auto vacuum and mop cleaner.
Karcher RCV 5
The German manufacturer Karcher is most well-known for its pressure washers, but it has entered the robotic vacuum market with a model that both vacuums and mop. The RCV 5 offers an impressive array of features, including superb obstacle detection (with the dual laser system) and mapping that can be tracked in real time through the app that is smart.
It's also able to sense carpeted surfaces and activates mopping mode that is wet. There's also a spot cleaning function that intensely cleans a localised area of approximately 3 feet and can be scheduled for weekly repetition. The RCV 5 is a reliable robot cleaner that has suction capacity of 2500 pascals. It can clean both hard and soft floors and can reach into tight corners and even under furniture that is low.
Like many modern robots, the RCV 5 has a smartphone-powered app called Karcher Home Robots. It can be used to start cleaning processes and create and manage maps of your home. The RCV 5 also has the capability to create virtual walls and zones that it isn't able to drive.
The RCV 5 has a downside in that its dust bin is just a litre and will need to be emptied regularly. This is different from other models that incorporate disposal technology in their docking station. It's also heavier than some of its competitors which makes it less mobile and needing more space in the charging station. The RCV 5 was highly rated by the testers for its ease of use and app control. It was a great performer in our tests, but some testers had trouble getting its voice technology to work effectively.
