The best automatic vacuum robot vacuums with mopping capabilities have an onboard water tank that holds both dirty and clean water. They also come with a compartment in which the floor-cleaning product of the brand can be automatically mixed and dispersed. Once the cleaning session is completed the onboard bin is filled and the dirt and dust are sent back to base station to be sealed in larger and more durable dust bag. The base stations can also be used to refill, wash and dry the robot mops.
These "hands-free" robots, such as the S8 MaxV Ultra from Roborock are the newest class of robots that can do almost everything for you -- they clean, vacuum and mop and even refill their own water tanks and wash and dry mop pads. Others have an option that adapts its pressure based on the kind of surface (more for tiles and less for hardwood) to prevent scratching the floor.

They may also be less effective on certain flooring surfaces such as laminate or linoleum.
The majority of robots that can mop use disposable pads that are washed and dried by the base after each cleaning. They typically last for up to 50 minutes or longer before they need a replacement and recharge. The Noesis Florio, which uses disposable pads instead of rechargeable batteries, is a rare exception. It's nevertheless a great option because it can maneuver so well throughout the house. It can maneuver around chair legs and over thresholds. It even remembers the threshold's location after having crossed it a few times, which means it knows when to slow down.
The X1 Omni robot vacuum is also able to mop, and does not require an app. It is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant and allows you to control it using voice commands. It's also cheaper than other robots, however it lacks some of the most advanced features.
It has a self-emptying bin that dumps the contents in a larger container that has to be cleaned only every 30 days. It also automatically refills its water tank, and then disposes of the cleaning pads once they're dirty, making it very low maintenance.

Some robots, such as the eufy RoboVac L20 Ultra drop their dirty mopping pads into a bin that is automatically emptied via a dock that is powered by batteries at the base station. This is a hands-free way of operating the machine but it leaves your floors a bit less tidy than if they were washed and replaced manually. Other models, such as the eufy X10 Pro Omni, refill their mopping pad with an additional reservoir that is automatically emptied from the dock.

This feature is especially useful in rooms that have furniture because it helps them avoid being caught in tangled legs or other objects. App users are also able to receive alerts and status updates, such as when their bins are full or require to be cleaned.
The soft RoboVac L20 Ultimate we tested, for example, used its lidar mapping system as well as digital keep-out zones to effectively navigate around couches, chairs and other obstacles. During our testing, it did a great job of picking up pet fur and other debris from stairs and corners that are difficult to reach.
