3. iRobot Roomba X40
This mop and automatic vacuum cleaner combination is sleek and has a circular design that appears more like the regular Roomba model than the boxy models from the competitors. It's one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It comes with advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that has 100% in our testing thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with an intuitive mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's an eerily noisy device which could be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or at night as you try to sleep.
It's also somewhat expensive, though it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are similarly capable and more attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however, it's going to cost you more and create more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically empty the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and cleans and dry mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of an array of LIDAR and structured light to create the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its more expensive competitors. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to create a spot-clean. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas for greater efficiency.
