The best rated robot vacuum robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and will leave your floors clean. Its price is surprisingly low and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are great features.
Make sure to check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris as well as hair. Clean them as needed. Some models will automatically empty their onboard dust bin into a larger bin in the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the top model) they employ smart mapping to produce precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also come with Carpet Boost, a feature which boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our tests on floors that are bare, and they're particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.
It's still a great option, especially if you want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also quiet and works while you are at work or at school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying dock, though. If you want to, you can switch the mopping pad to a dry one in seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has strong suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the best automatic vacuum robot hoover for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors that help it avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and provide better cleaning. The app lets you modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average when compared to similar models.
You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when in a carpeted room, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also ideal for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire home, and it did so with only 66 percent of its battery left. It did a great cleaning job on different rooms and floors with various flooring types, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top-notch and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds, and bundles of cables.
It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically fills up its base, and also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums, a feature that we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
With a sleek circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba rather than the boxes, this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive looking models in our reviews. iRobot's latest flagship model also is among the most intelligent model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).
It's also the only robotic vacuum or mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
Like other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, offering a simple mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in the mornings before work or in the evening when you're trying to fall asleep.
It's also a bit costly, but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however, it's more expensive and create more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a variety of sophisticated features that will let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device, similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and washes and dries the mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and detect obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its premium competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front to detect hazards in real-time however, it wasn't foolproof in our testing and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner comes with an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the house depending on how dirty these areas are.
For larger homes it's recommended to choose models with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean one particular area of your house using the app or voice controls. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have lot furniture. For busy families recharge functions and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be extremely useful.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than the price suggests. It is a good vacuum cleaner, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using only one pad and a reciprocating motion that cleans better that most of the mop cleaners with robots that vacuum and mop that we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying base that is washable.
The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate a mapping run which collects information about your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to create an best automatic vacuum cleaner spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency. The app also gives access to a host of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. And you can create a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, however it is more likely to be stuck on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums that we've examined. It also comes with an app that's not as intuitive and a small base station that can't double as a bin for emptying.
