The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention. It leaves your floors spotless. Its price is surprisingly low and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are pluses.

Make sure you regularly inspect your robot's brushes for hair tangled as well as large debris, and wash them when required. Certain models also automatically empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in a larger bin located at the base. This reduces the amount fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic hoovers vacuums we've examined. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. As with other top iRobot models (including the top-rated model) they utilize smart mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also have a feature called carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it detects the presence of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned quickly.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective at cleaning pet hair. However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to become stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.

Still, it's very good for those who want to save money on a iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used while you're at work or at school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. And, if you have to change the mopping pad for a dry one in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with self-emptying dustbins as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors that help it avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time and provide more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average in comparison to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to take off and extend its mops. This can help avoid cross contamination. Its flex arm is perfect for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could sweep the entire house and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a decent cleaning job on various rooms and floors with various kinds of flooring, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it swiftly eluded fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen on other robot vacuum/mop combination.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

This robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that looks more like the regular Roomba model than the bulky models from the competition. It's one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to the combination of high-tech sensors including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It comes with an intuitive mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's a noisy unit which could be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to sleep.

If you're willing to put up with a bit more noise and a little more cost this is a efficient two-in-one device that should delight most.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features that let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner that is similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum, refills the water tank, and cleans and dries the mop pads.

The smart robot uses a combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, and navigates more effectively than some of its premium competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was sometimes confused with obstructions or power cords.

Its vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the home based on how dirty the areas are.

If you own a larger home, you should consider choosing a model that has zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you tell the robot which area of your house needs to be cleaned using the app or voice control. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. For families with busy schedules, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum best vacuum to continue from where it left off can be extremely useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than the price suggests. It is a great job vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion, which is cleaner than the other robot mop cleaners we've tried. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms for better performance. The app also grants access to a variety of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuum that vacuums and mops vacuums, meaning it is able to reach corners and under furniture more easily. It has a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction and sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like adorable eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to be caught by low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robot vacuums we've tried. It also has an app that's less intuitive, and a smaller base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
