Adult Women With ADD Face Daily Challenges

Adult women who suffer from mild adhd in women have daily challenges. Many doctors still believe that ADD is a condition only affecting boys and men. Many ADD symptoms in females fluctuate with hormones. They become more noticeable during puberty, and then diminish when estrogen levels drop during PMS or perimenopausal.

Symptoms

Women who suffer from adult ADD are easily annoyed and impulsive. They often take on projects without planning or thinking them through, such as careers and relationships. Some also have sensitivity to rejection which makes it difficult to cope with the real or perceived rejection. They are more likely than women who do not have ADD to engage in risky behaviors like early sexual contact or casual sexual relations. They could also have multiple partners, an unprotected pregnancy, or multiple partners. Depression is often a co-occurring condition that results from ADD and requires treatment equally. ADD symptoms are more evident in girls during puberty, PMS, and as estrogen levels decrease adhd in adult women symptoms perimenopausal and menopause.
