Bruvi's entry into the pod machine industry in 2022 was met with excitement. The brightly-colored device promised three things: a better tasting cup of coffee than other pod machines, a vast variety of drink options and pods you can throw in the bin without worry about the environmental impact.
It's a three-pronged winner. This compact pod coffee machine is reasonably priced and produces a rich, robust espresso every time. It's one of the quietest machines on market. You can make your cup of Joe even before your alarm sounds.
The Bruvi comes in two sizes and can be adjusted to the type of drink you are making. If you're brewing a latte or cappuccino it comes with three textures and temperature settings for the milk, so you can make your froth. It can also make hot cocoa, which is great for both kids and adults who want to relax.
Another major plus is the programable sleep mode that switches to standby after an hour of non-use. It's also easy to clean and requires very little water. If you're looking to keep your electricity costs low, consider opting for one that comes with an open capsule holder that is removable for easier emptying.
There are other accessories that you can add to your coffee maker like a milk froth (unless it's included in the model you buy). It is also possible to think about a coffee filter that is reusable and can be used with capsules that can be reused. A thermometer or water kettle to control temperature precisely is also a good alternative.
2. Easy to Clean
A coffee pod machine is a convenient way to begin your day with a hot cup of coffee. In just a few minutes you'll be enjoying an iced drink that has been freshly brewed. A recently launched competitor, Bruvi, uses its own pods, which can only be used in its own brewer. They have been designed to disintegrate quickly in landfills, without leaving any microplastics behind.
3. Fast Brewing
For those who do not want to deal with the grind of beans or boiling the kettle, a pod coffee machine is a great time saver. These devices are foolproof and let you brew a cup of espresso, coffee or tea in just minutes with no cleaning up. While these machines generate more waste for the environment than their drip counterparts, they're still significantly less laborious than making a batch of whole beans in a French press or pour-over.
A company based out of LA called Bruvi released its BV-01 pod machine at the end of 2022. It promised to make superior single serve coffee that tastes better and provide more drink options than the vast number of other pod-based machine and deliver reusable capsules which could be thrown out without breaking down into tiny microplastics. Although the Bruvi brewer is more than Keurig or Nespresso but it is a great device all around that is like the beginning of a new era in pod coffee.
When buying a coffee pod maker, the size of the serving is an important factor to take into account. Certain models can make single-serve cups in a variety of sizes, ranging from huge travel mugs, to 2-ounce espresso shots. Some machines can brew whole pots of coffee, and some even come with a milk frother which allows you to add a creamy cappuccino or latte into your morning cup of coffee.
Another aspect to take into consideration is the design of a pod coffee machine. The color, the finish and location of the machine as well as the size and location of the reservoir for water will determine how it appears on your counter. Some brands also provide various colored pods, which allows you to alter your beverage to suit the season or your mood.
Pod coffee makers tend to be compact and occupy less space than single-serve or drip brewers. Although a small footprint may be desirable, it's also important that your machine is able to make multiple cups between refills. The drip tray can be adjusted to ensure that it can fit tall travel mugs or short espresso cups. It is able to make five different beverages, due to a custom barcode system that scans each compatible pod and automatically adjusts its settings to create the perfect cup.
This is the best coffee pod machine-looking coffee pod maker we've tested and has a great tasting coffee, especially for an automatic. We didn't give it the top spot because it's limited in its ability to milk froth. Its only option is to use dried, skimmed milk capsules, which aren't as delicious as freshly squeezed milk. We would have awarded this machine the top spot if it had an integrated milk frother.
