A Single Pushchair Is a Great Option For Newborns and Infants
A single pushchair is a great option for infants and newborns. A lot of them have a lie-flat seat suitable for use starting at birth and are compatible with a variety of travel systems.
Some convertibles allow you to convert them into a double by adding a second seat or carrycot. They are a great option for parents who are expecting a second baby in the near future.
Convertible
A convertible single pushchair is a great option for parents looking to reduce space and save money. It begins as an infant stroller with all the features to accommodate a newborn and later can easily be converted into a wagon that can accommodate two children. This unique combination of a wagon and stroller has numerous features that parents love, such as an extra seat and the handy pull handle that converts it into a wagon. It also has an adjustable headrest and harness straps and a basket that can be used to store things, and a retractable canopy.
In addition, the cheap single pushchair pushchair convertible can be used to accommodate a second child car seat using the adapter. It also has a huge undercarriage to store groceries and other grocery shopping. The downside is that it's heavier than other single strollers and is more difficult to navigate in tight spaces. It's also less stable and will likely tip over if it's loaded with too heavy weight. The single pushchair that converts to a convertible model is also difficult to use because you must thread and tie the seat straps every time you switch between stroller or wagon.
Lightweight
Babyzen Yoyo is the best single pushchair for people who need a stroller that is easy to use and fast. It weighs only 6kg and easily fits into the trunk of a car or carried by hand. You can purchase an extension for your cot to turn it into a pram that is suitable for babies from birth. There are plenty of add ons like rain covers, a reversible seat liner, baby comfortable footmuff, carry strap and more. It also comes with a single wheel stroller-handed recline for the seat and is compact single stroller when folded. It is a fantastic light option for travelling abroad as it can withstand moderately rough roads.
Lie-flat
Newborn babies require a lie-flat pushchair. This could be a full pram or a travel set-up with a bassinet or a dedicated infant car seat that has a base that is lying flat. The Lullaby Trust recommends that babies should not be kept in the seated position for too long, so they may have to be moved to an upright pushchair seat or cot within a short period of time.
If you're deciding on a single buggy that is able to be used from birth, look for one that has a fully reclining seat unit which can be combined with a newborn carrycot or pod (this is usually the case for travel systems that have detachable bassinets). Some single pushchairs come with an enclosed fabric that can be affixed to the chassis and offers the same effect, but without the requirement for an additional car seat.
Some single pushchairs have a parent facing option which lets you keep an eye on your baby and give them plenty of security in the early years. Certain Jane models come with this feature in their standard models, making them ideal for parents who are new.
All-terrain strollers are great for parents who wish to take their child on a walk in rough or bumpy terrain. They typically come with three wheels to maximize stability and are easy to maneuver. They're often narrower in the front and lighter and therefore can be manoeuvred in tight spaces.
If you are planning to push your stroller across uneven or rough terrains, choose a model with puncture-resistant tyres. These tyres are a great alternative to air tyres, and offer great grip on rocky or uneven surfaces.
A rain cover or cozy footmuffs are also useful because they provide additional protection from the elements. A lot of these items are machine washable, saving you the trouble of cleaning up spills and crumbs. Adding a seat liner will provide extra comfort for your child, and also protect the fabric of your pram from spills of drinks or food. If your child starts to get cold, a cozy pram blanket will keep them warm and snug.
Safety
A five-point safety harness should be used on a buggy, pram or pushchair to stop your child from falling out of the seat or falling over the vehicle. The harness should fit comfortably around the waist and shoulders and have a secure attachment. The straps should be adjustable, and the harness should rest on the chest of the child, and not lower or higher than their belly.
A single to double pushchair such as the UPPAbaby Vista V2 or egg 2 can easily take on an additional seat or carrycot by adding a set tandem adaptors for around PS50, which add a second location on the chassis for the other baby's seat or carrycot. It's a great choice for parents who are expecting twins or have siblings with similar ages. However it can be a challenge to maneuver around narrow spaces, especially if you need to place the second seat behind the first.
Consider a convertible stroller if intend to have another child. These can be used both in single and tandem mode. Some brands, like CYBEX or Silver Cross Wave, allow you to customize their designs by adding an extra seat, a second carrycot, or a ride-on board.
A lot of pushchairs come with a raincover that can be used to make quick stops or in the event of heavy rain. It's also worth determining if your stroller has sun canopy that can offer UV protection for your children.
A shopping basket will help you keep your shopping in one spot and keep it from falling out of the stroller. You might also want to think about investing in the lining of your pushchair, which will protect the seat from food spills and staining.
To keep your child safe, you will need to clean the pushchair, buggy or pram regularly. The Pushchair Guide recommends a gentle clean-up using warm water mild detergent or soap. It is also important to read the manufacturer's instructions regarding maintenance and care, and ensure that the product is compliant with all safety standards applicable to it.
