What is a bedside cot?
A bedside crib (also known as a bassinet or co-sleeper) is a small infant cot for bedside that attaches to your adult bed, allowing your baby to sleep in a safe environment with you. This is a safe form of co-sleeping and doesn't increase your risk of SIDS, like bedsharing. It also helps you bond with your new baby.
They have one side that can be lowered to allow you to reach your baby easily at night to comfort and feed them. This is particularly helpful for mums recovering from a c-section. Many of them are foldable or portable which means you can use them for trips and as a temporary solution for newborns who aren't ready to transition into a full-sized crib.

Its deluxe airflow mattress offers an ideal sleeping surface and ventilation panels ensure your baby is kept cool. There are six different height settings including an incline option that can aid with congestion and reflux.
The Tutti Bambini COZee air crib comes with a removable fabric and a wipe-clean lining. This makes it easier to clean than bedside cribs that can be messy to clean. It also has a top bar which can be easily adjusted to accommodate nighttime feedings without having to mess with zips.
Anna found the CoZee to provide a safe, comfortable sleeping space for her baby. She liked that it didn't move like other models, which meant she wasn't woken up at night while trying to comfort her child during feedings. She also liked that the sides of the chair lowered so she didn't need to reach over her partner to lift the child out to feed them at night.
The CoZee is available in oak or charcoal and is a stylish option for any bedroom. It's more modern than other cribs we've seen and are typically utilitarian. It is also relatively light at just 11kg. It also comes with a carry-on case so you can bring it with you on vacation or when you are moving home. You'll need a waterproof sheet and a safety strap for co-sleeping. The instructions and illustrations are simple to follow when you first open the box.
The Maxi-Cosi lora
The Iora is a bassinet that can be placed at the bedside that helps parents feel closer to their infant as they sleep. It adjusts upwards and downwards and moves through three slide positions to fit next to the bed of the parent or in the corner of the room, to ensure that your baby is close at hand. The mesh siding is breathable, allowing air to circulate through and gives you a quick glance at your baby. You can also put away additional pajamas or other items in the large basket underneath.
As opposed to other bedside cot used crib options Iora is a standout among other bedside cribs. Iora can be folded flat and comes with a carry-on bag which allows it to be taken wherever. It was easy to move from room to space, and our mum testers believed it was the perfect size for a bedside crib. The large storage basket is great for storing extra bedding or nappies.
This is a great option for parents who want to sleep together but don't want to share their bed. If one of the parents has mobility issues like back pain or arthritis. Our mom testers were thrilled to be able to easily access their child while in the Iora and that it had an optional reflux incline that helped to reduce gas.
Our moms are also thrilled that the mattress is in line with NICE guidelines, which are to place the baby in the crib or Moses basket on its own (with no toys, blankets, pillows, etc). The mattress is also sturdy and comfortable for the baby bedside crib, and sheets are easily available. It's not as light as the other smaller cribs on our list, so if you prefer something lighter and easier for you to move around, consider a different option.
