What is a bedside cot?

A bedside crib (also called bassinet or co-sleeper) is a small infant crib that can be attached to your adult bed, allowing your infant to sleep in a safe environment with you. This is a safe form of co-sleeping and doesn't increase your risk of SIDS, like bedsharing. It also helps you bond with your newborn baby.

The cots come with a side which can be lowered so that you can reach your baby easily at night to soothe and feed them. This is particularly helpful for mothers recovering from an op. Some are also mobile or foldable, which means you can take them on your travels and use them as a sleeping solution for newborns who aren't ready to transition into a cot that is full size.

If you're looking for a crib to sleep in Choose a crib with a comfortable mattress and a cover to shield your baby from stains. You'll also want to pick up some baby-safe add-ons such as a blanket and a soft toy.

If you're seeking a long-term solution, some cribs come with conversion kits that let you convert them into a toddler bed or cot at the time that is appropriate. This is a great option for extending their lifespan and making the transition smoother. Some come with a removable section at the top that can be converted into the bassinet. Some can be used with either an adult bed that is standard or a high-rise model. This is a good choice for families who are planning on frequent travel cot bedside crib or switching between bedrooms throughout the night. It is also important to consider the size of your bedroom to ensure that you can fit the crib in comfortably. A lot of cribs have a riser which can be used to create an inclined position for infants who suffer from reflux.

The Joie Roomie Glide

The Roomie Glide, a bedside cot newborn crib made by the English brand Joie is a wonderful addition to their line of high-quality baby products. This crib was designed to help parents connect and sleep side-by-side with their children without sharing a single bed. It is full of features that make bonding between parents and baby safe, easy and enjoyable.

A gentle rocking motion can be initiated by pressing the button. This gentle rhythm can soothe your baby to sleep without disturbing their natural sleeping patterns. This is great for toddlers or older babies who are having trouble settling down. It can also help with digestive problems like colic and reflux.

The crib can be locked in it once the rocking is completed to stop it from moving. It can be secured to the bed's side with clips and straps. This makes the crib stable and secure, allowing you to sleep comfortably without fearing that your baby might roll off into the middle. The cocoon's rounded shape features soft padded sides and double mesh windows on both ends to allow plenty of airflow while making sure your baby is safe.

The mattress included is comfortable and firm, and has an easily removable cover. The crib is simple to put together and take down thanks to a lightweight aluminium frame that makes it very mobile. The four wheels that are rubber-covered and lockable ensure that the crib will not leave marks on your flooring and are easy to move. The crib is easy to clean with the fabric that is washable and can be easily packed in bags for long-term stays.

The Tutti Bambini CoZee Air

This superior model is designed to be a secure, next-to-me-crib from birth to 6 months. It comes with bars with rocking for easy mobility and castors. Its deluxe airflow mattress offers a comfortable sleep surface while ventilators ensure your baby is kept cool. There are also 6 different height settings as well as an incline option that can help with reflux and congestion.

The Tutti Bambini COZee Air crib comes with a removable fabric and a wipe-clean lining. This makes it much easier to clean than some bedside cribs that can be a mess to clean. It also has a top bar that can be easily lowered to feed at night without having to fumble with zips in the dark.

Anna found the CoZee to provide a safe, comfortable place to sleep for her baby. She was pleased that it didn't sway like other models, so it didn't wake her in the night when she was trying to comfort her baby during feedings. She also liked that the side was lowered so she didn't need to reach out over her partner to carry the baby out for night time feeds.

The CoZee is available in charcoal and oak and is a beautiful addition to the bedroom. It's more stylish than the other cribs we've tested and are typically utilitarian. It is also relatively light at just 11kg. It also comes with a carry-on case, so you can take it with you on vacation or when you are moving home. The only extras you require are a waterproof cover and a safety strap for co-sleeping. The instructions and illustrations are simple to follow when you first open the box.

The Maxi-Cosi lora

The Iora is a bassinet that can be placed at the bedside crib and travel cot that helps parents feel closer to their infant as they sleep. It can be adjusted upwards and downwards and shifted through three different slide positions to be placed beside the bed of the parent or in the corner, to ensure that the infant is always in reach. The mesh siding lets air flow through, and allows you to see your baby quickly. You can also store any extra pajamas or items in the large storage basket beneath.

Unlike some other smaller cheap bedside cot cribs Iora is a standout among other bedside crib travel cribs. Iora folds flat and comes with a carry-on bag to allow it to be taken anywhere. It was easy to move around from room to space, and our mum testers believed it was the perfect size for a bedside crib. They also loved the large storage basket, perfect for storing spare bedding or nappies.

This is a great choice for parents looking to sleep in a co-sleeping arrangement but do not want to share their own beds or whose partners may have mobility issues, like arthritis or back issues. Our mom testers are thrilled with the convenience of being able to access their baby in the Iora, and that it has an option to tilt the bed upwards to aid in reducing gas.

Our mums love that it follows NICE guidelines. These are to place an infant in the Moses basket or crib on its own, without blankets, toys, pillows etc. The mattress is also a good firm and comfortable for babies, and sheets are easy to find. It isn't as light as other cribs that are smaller however and if you're looking for something lighter and easier to move around with, consider one of the other options in our list.
