World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades are a way to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade it could boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity and boost additional stats.
Upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a certain number of Flightstones and Crests Each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a certain amount.
Item Level
The value of an item's stats base increases as it is upgraded. This is the sum of all of its leveled up advantages (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrades can be expensive, depending on the person you hire and what you do. This is due to the variety of perks that need to be modified to upgrade an item.
The level of an item is a commonly used measurement of power and can be found on all tooltips for items. It also serves to limit the amount of PvP gear players can use as PvP is restricted at a lower level. The average level of the item can be found in the character sheet.
The level of an item will allow players to compare the strength of equipment when they decide to buy or sell. It's a measure of the damage and quality. The level of an item can be used to evaluate items when evaluating a vendor's inventory.
On PC, you are able to check the level of the item by pressing ALT or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the item's full description, including the ilvl. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel into chat.
There are various theories on how the calculation of an Best item upgrade's level is made. One theory is that the item level is a numerical value derived from a formula which calculates how much an item's stats are worth. It takes into account the fact that various perks have different value and that sockets have gems that increase the item's overall value. This could result in an item's ilvl calculated, which is typically very close to Blizzards actual level of the item.
However, this is not the only factor that affects an item's ilvl, as the size of the area the item dropped in can change the value of its stats, such as by adding an additional level to its haste rating or crit rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have more the ilvl than items from lower level instances.
Item Stats
The stats of an item are a major element in what makes or breaks an item for players. The game utilizes them in various ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to one weapon and to encourage players to explore other weapons. The stats of a base weapon are increased by the weapon's stat mods that are in turn boosted by the player's level.
The upgrades to an item can boost its stats. The cost of upgrades is determined by the rarity of the Best item upgrader. A grey or white item for instance, can only be upgraded one time, while an item that has rare tiers can be upgraded several times at higher costs.
Another method of altering the stats on an item is through affixes. They are stat boosters that can be added by the player to an item. Affixes are used to give items extra damage, special abilities (such as the ability to revive dead or reduce cooling downs) or to distinguish them by adding a name.
At present, all affixes can be modified by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button using circles arrows. This process will cost the player a specific amount of gold and other items that can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same way as the other rerolling options.
Players can choose to upgrade an item by specific stats or reroll attaches. The range of stats determined by the item's level. However every item will contain at least one stat in that range unless they are an exclusive item or an item that has a God Roll from a raid boss.
Another thing that could change is the option to upgrade equipment without having to roll the attachments, or pick which stats to increase. Like the base equipment, it would have to be done per item upgrade and the item comparison interface will not show all possible stats at once.
Item Luck
The Luck stat of a player increases the likelihood of locating items as well as the properties generated by loot, and the intensity of these properties. However, it doesn't directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It simply gives players a possibility to obtain better equipment in earlier waves, and is therefore more beneficial in the early game as opposed to later ones, because most players value higher weapon scaling and defenses over damage gains.
In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chance of being successful when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This isn't to be confused with the Blacksmith’s overall upgrade chances that increase with each new level of item. They can also be increased with the use of anti-materials such as a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.
Weapons, shields, and armor can spawn or be crafted using the Luck property, with a default value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the type of material used) to grant a further +40 Luck or to boost the Luck of an item up to 140.
Certain items, like the Hollow-infused weapon can also be outfitted to increase the damage of any ability that causes damage by five percent. These items can be bought at the store or constructed using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Not all upgrades work. Cash shop items can be used to boost the success rate of an upgrade or to prevent players from losing their item if it does not work.
When you upgrade an item the success rate is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage indicates the probability of successfully upgrading an item upgrader mod. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations to the extent to which success rates can be increased and the chance of an upgrade failing cannot exceed 100%..
The success of an item upgrades is also influenced by the Luck of that item. Each item has a success rate of 25 percent, and every item with Luck increases the chance of success by 5%.
The item upgrade overlays are rendered above items in the inventory. This could block enchantment effects as well as other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
