The best robot vacuum and mop robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and will leave your floors clean. Its low cost and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

The robots also come with a feature called Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our tests on floors that are bare They're also particularly adept in removing pet hair. However, they have a few flaws that keep them from being our top pick. For instance, the Q5's navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to get caught up in shoes and socks and can't navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.

It's still a great deal for those whose office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save money. It's also quiet and can be used while you are at work or school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle, however. If you want to change the mopping pad for a dry one in seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying bin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

The flex arm can be used to reach beneath low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to sweep the entire house, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It did a great cleaning job on different flooring and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-notch and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums it, something we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competition's compact models this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive designs in our tests. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's also the only robot vacuums that mop vacuum or mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to the combination of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has an easy mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This could be a concern in the mornings before work or at night when you are trying to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, although it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are similarly capable and more attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable, but it will cost you more and produce more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. Like Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take care of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floorplans and identify obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its top competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was sometimes confused with obstructions or power cords.

Its vacuum has a high suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house in accordance with the degree of dirt they tend to be.

If you have a larger home, it is worth choosing a model that has zones or spot cleaning modes. This allows you to inform the robot of which area of your home needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice command. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. For families with busy schedules, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to resume where it left off could be very beneficial.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It vacuums well and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad and a reciprocating movement which is cleaner than the majority of the mop cleaners with robots that we've examined. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through a mapping run, which gathers information on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to set up a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas to improve performance. The app also grants access to many features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans an area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it's more likely to get caught in low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums we have examined. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
