If you don't want your hands dirty then robot vacuum cleaners are a great choice. They are more efficient than manual vacuum cleaners and are ideal for flats and single-storey houses.
Smart features are a plus. These include mapping technology that can remember your home's layout, avoiding furniture and rugs and avoiding those nipples underneath furniture that bigger robots struggle with.
iRobot Roomba J7+
The iRobot Roomba J7+ is an upgrade over the previous model of the company and adds some new technology to make it more effective at avoiding pet waste. It uses intelligent navigation and mapping to create maps of rooms and floors and tries to avoid obstacles like charging cords, furniture and shoes. It also detects dirt and prioritize cleaning areas that are heavily filthy. This is a major improvement over older models which frequently ignored the dirtiest spots or only cleaned them for a short period of time.
The robot vacuum comes with a self-emptying base station that will dump dust from the bin into its own 2.4L dirt disposal bag. iRobot's claims this can hold up to 60 days worth of debris, meaning you only have to empty and refill the bag once every three months. The base station also includes a spare bag that can be used to replace the bag in a snap.
It's easy to set up and use the Roomba, which is compatible with Alexa, Google Assistant and is fully controllable via the iRobot Genius app. Using the app, you can select to start or stop cleaning, determine the duration it should be able to spend on each task and then create a timetable.
During our tests during our tests, the iRobot Roomba J7+ was able to clean hardwood and area rug surfaces without issue in the kitchen, foyer, and the family room. It listened to our instructions and carried out its tasks quietly, recording just 64 decibels when it was in operation. It took about 90 minutes to finish a single cleaning, and its battery required one hour and 58 minutes to recharge afterward. The Combo j7 allows you to extend your iRobot eco-system by pairing it with the iRobot Mop m6. One can run while the other moves around the room.
Dyson 360 Viz Nav
The Dyson 360 Viz Nav is the ideal robot vacuum cleaner for those who live in a multi-floored home. The model can create maps for different floors and save them in the app. It is then easy to switch between rooms without having to repeat the setup procedure. The robot can be controlled using voice commands, like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
Dyson has taken a different approach to obstacle detection that is different from other robot hoover vacuums, employing sensors and cameras. The vacuum was able to empty the bin quickly and efficiently and cut down cleaning time by half.
However the Dyson 360 Viz Nav didn't do better than other robots in our obstacle-avoidance tests. It had a difficult time avoiding drying racks that were temporary that it was unable to get under. It eventually became stuck and interrupted the cleaning cycle. It also had difficulty navigating some furniture pieces that are taller such as the coffee table or a chair. The Dyson 360 Vis Nav also isn't able to climb stairs, which is a problem for a lot of people who live in multi-story homes.
Roborock
