Important Parts of an Espresso Machine

A top espresso machine should deliver a thick and powerful shot of coffee, with a full-bodied flavor and intense aroma. This requires a high temperature and pressure.

Water reservoir

Steam wand

The steam wand is the thin metal pipe that is inserted out of the espresso machine and shoots steam hot and pressurized into your milk to create foamy drinks such as cappuccinos and lattes. You can also make hot water for cocoa or tea. The wand is usually made of several holes at the tip, that you can turn off and on to regulate the amount of steam released. Some machines come with an old-fashioned wand, while others have a Pannarello which is more simple to use but does not make foam suitable for latte art.
