Robots that vacuum and clean offer the convenience of cleaning dry and wet messes in one go without the need to switch between devices. They can also save space compared to two separate units, particularly in smaller living areas.
A good combination bot will provide excellent navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models that automatically empty their bin and refill their water tank, and machine-wash their mopping pads with a dedicated dock.
1. Eufy S1 Pro
It has a lot to offer at a affordable price, and it's one of the most simple robots we've tested to install. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and the quick-start guide will get you up and running with a clean, full dust bag, a hard floor solution and water tank in no time.
The S1 Pro is a powerful small machine that can cleans up a mess and vacuums well too. The mops are spun at high speed and use 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to take away pet hair, dirt and sticky dried spills. The vacuum comes with four power modes, a variety of attachments and brushes, and an intuitive app that lets you pick the type of cleaning you'd like to have for each room.
You can, for example request the robot vacuum with mop to clean the kitchen and living room thoroughly but leave the bedroom to itself. The S1 Pro's front collision sensors and smart navigation tech are superb as the robot cleaner is able to detect tiny obstacles that other models have difficulty overcoming. Its only minor issue is that it can smash into walls and other objects at a high speed, but a quick glance at the history of cleaning in the app tells you exactly what it's doing and where it's headed and what obstacles it's avoided.
A convenient LCD screen on the docking station tells you when maintenance jobs need to be done including emptying the debris tray and washing the water tank that is dirty. It can also mix detergent into the tank in a controlled manner by using a 600ml eufy solution.
Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop have plenty of run-time and the mop is capable of operating for an 184-minute runtime in Quiet mode and the vacuum capable of running for 136 minutes in normal mode, before needing to recharge or return to the base to replenish. The app is easy to use and intuitive that lets you see every aspect of the cleaning.
2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the most recent version of the company's flagship robot vacuum and mop. It's not like the model from last year it comes with two agitators in its mopping pad, which significantly improves its carpet cleaning capabilities. The S8 Pro Ultra also has enhanced suction power, which allows it to remove small hairs and other particles that other robotic cleaners may overlook.
The Roborock model, like the other two I tried is equipped with infrared and 3D obstacle avoidance technology that helps it avoid obstacles such as furniture, walls and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further by incorporating dual cameras that can detect objects, and determine if they're walls or other surfaces. It then can automatically alter its path and clean them without missing a beat.
This is the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed, but it's also the most loaded with features. Its sleek and angular design is eye-catching and it has only three physical buttons: the power button, that also resumes cleaning; a mop-only button that doubles as a child lock and a home button that can bring the robot vacuum cleaner reviews back to its dock. Lifting the hinged lid, you will find a 350ml dust bin and 200ml water tank. The water tank automatically emptys and the bin auto-refills.
The only drawback I could find to this model was that the VibraRise mop pads mount isn't movable. While you can replace the mopping cloth (if needed), it's a pain to take off the mount itself to wash it manually. I've observed that any carpet that the robot crosses will be in contact with the rough Velcro like fastener system on mounts, which can cause abrasions.
The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart features that include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can configure and manage these via the Roborock app that is also home to its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app also allows you to schedule cleanings, monitor the battery life and maintain your components. You'll have to go through some hoops to activate voice control on this model. This is a shame considering how efficient it is otherwise.
3. Dreame X40
The Dreame X40 is an industry-leading robot vacuum and mop with incredible suction power, sophisticated mowing capabilities, and ingenuity features. Its intelligent design allows you to personalize and efficiently clean while saving time.
The X40 is the first robotic autonomous vacuum cleaner to deliver 12,000 Pascals of cleaning power, which easily makes it one of the most effective options available. This powerful vacuum is able to clean up pet hair, crumbs and other dry debris. It comes with a mop that is excellent quality that can clean hard floors without the use of a pad. The X40 is also extremely quiet while in use with only occasional bursts during mode changes or self-maintenance.
The X40 also comes with an additional side brush that can be lifted and extended. This lets it reach into corners that are hard to reach and clean furniture that is curved like table and chair legs. The robot is also able to reach under furniture that is low-profile, making it an excellent option for smaller apartments or condos. The side brush tilts automatically down when it detects wet spots. This is a nice feature that helps the X40 to avoid damaging floors by excessive back-and forth movements.
Contrary to other robots, which are limited to a single task, the X40 can vacuum and mop at the same time. It can also be programmed to eliminate areas with carpets and mop only hard floors, and vice versa. It can be controlled via the Dreame App or Alexa, Siri, or Google Home to ensure that voice-controlled operations are smooth and easy.
The app is intuitive and user-friendly and the X40's intelligent features are simple to set up. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times. It can also be adjusted to adjust suction power, change modes, view floor plans and maps, and manage mopping setting. The X40 can also monitor its progress and notify you when it's finished.
The X40 is easy to maintain and has many features that make it an excellent option for busy families. The docking station automatically empty the dustbin into a large 3.2 L bin, cleans the mop pads, then refills them with clean water and cleaning solution. It can also detect if the mop pad has reached its capacity to the max and notify you of the situation prior to it bursting.
4. L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra robot is one of the most expensive models available. However, it has several characteristics that make it stand out. The mops are equipped with a new feature called Smart DuoScrub. It utilizes two mops that are high-speed to clean floors more thoroughly than the conventional method, and it has a high maximum suction power of 7,000Pa. This is more than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra and Ecovacs Deebots T20 Omni. It can also clean pet hair, small dirt particles, and clean up spills and dirty spots.
Its mops are also dried and cleaned inside the base station after every use. This is an excellent feature as it stops the build-up of mould and unpleasant odours in storage, and also makes mop systems more efficient. It's a system that we've yet to see on other robot vacuum and mop models and it could be a great method of keeping your home clean for longer.
There's a wealth of options available that include the ability to schedule cleaning and alter a variety of preferences. The app lets you set these preferences or you can use the buttons on the device itself. The app is simple to use and offers many options for customizing the cleaning process, and there are many features that other robots do not include, such as the Clean Genius mode that automatically increases suction power whenever it detects dust particles instead of using a manual setting.
The L20 Ultra has a stylish design with a metallic-white-white finish that looks elegant and sophisticated. It's a little heavier than the other two-in-1 robots on this list, at 4kg but it's not too heavy, and feels sturdy and well-built. The mopping is also well-designed, and the double rotating mop is great for hard floors as well as in corners. They can also extend to 2mm of baseboards thanks to the MopExtend feature, which is a nice addition.
