Upgrades to items are a method to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade, it may boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity and boost additional stats.

Upgrades to equipment in The War Within requires a certain number of Flightstones and Crests and each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a set amount.

Item Level

When an item gets upgraded, its base stats are increased in value. This is the sum of an item's upgraded perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive depending on the person you hire and what you decide to do. This is due to the variety of perks that must be changed in order to upgrade an item.

Item level is a popular measurement of power and can be found on all item tooltips. It is also used to limit the amount of PvP gear players are able to wear since PvP is not available at a lower level. Players can see their average level of item on their character sheet.

The level of an item can help players evaluate the power of equipment when deciding to purchase or sell. It's a useful indicator of an item's quality and how much damage it will be able to deal. The level of the item can be used to compare items when evaluating a vendor's inventory.

This will display the item's full description, including the ilvl. It can also be found by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are several theories about how the level of an item is calculated. One theory says that the level of an item is determined by a formula that calculates how valuable an item's stats actually are. It considers that different advantages are valued differently and that gems in sockets increase the item's value. This process can result in a calculated amount for the item's ilvl, which is usually quite close to Blizzard's real item level.

This isn't the only factor that affects the ilvl of an item. The level of the area where the item was dropped can change its stats. For instance, it could increase the item's haste or crit rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have higher value than items dropped in lower-level instances.

Item Stats

The stats of an item are a major element in what determines the value of an item for players. The game makes use of a lot of them in various ways to encourage players to play with multiple weapons, and to prevent one weapon from being "the Best item upgrade." The base stats of a weapon are enhanced by the weapon's stat modifications that are in turn increased by the player's skill.

The upgrades to items add by increasing certain stats on the item. The cost of upgrades is determined by the rarity of the item. For instance, a grey or white item can only be upgraded once, while an item with rare levels will be upgraded multiple times with higher prices.

Affixes are another way to change an item upgrading's stats. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and they come in all shapes and sizes. The affixes can do things like give the item additional damage, add a special capability to the item (such as reviving the dead or cutting down cooldowns), or make the item unique by putting an additional name to the item.

All affixes can be being re-rolled right now by selecting them in the upgrade menu and pressing the green button. This procedure will cost the player a specific amount of gold as well as items which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same way as other rerolling options.

Players can choose to upgrade an item with a specific stat or reroll attaches. The possible ranges of stats for an item are determined by the level of the item, however every item is guaranteed to have at minimum one stat within the range, unless it is an item that is unique or a God roll from a raid boss.

Another thing that could be altered by introducing an option to upgrade the equipment without rerolling the affixes, or selecting which stats to boost. Like base equipment, it must be done per item, and the item comparison interface would not display all the possible stats simultaneously.

Item Luck

The Luck stat for a player adds up to increase the chances of item discoveries, the properties spawned on loot drops and the strength of those properties. It doesn't, however directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives the player the chance to upgrade gear earlier in the game. This is more beneficial in early game runs since players tend to prioritize the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.

Luck can also boost the chances of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This isn't to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chances that increase with each level of the item. It is also possible to be enhanced by using anti-materials such as the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons come with the default Luck value of 40. These items can be upgraded with golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the item's material type) to grant an additional +40 Luck or to increase the luck of the item up to 140.

Certain items, such as the Hollow-infused weapon can also be outfitted to increase the damage of any skill that is able to deal damage by five percent. These items can be purchased in the shop or created by using the appropriate ingredients.

Item Failure

Item upgrades are a costly process and not every upgrade will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chances of success for an upgrade or to prevent players from losing their item if it fails.

When you upgrade an item, the success rate is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage is the chances of successfully upgrading that item, and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The percentage of success can only be increased so much, and the likelihood that an upgrade will fail can't exceed 100%.

The success of an item can be affected by the luck of that item. Each item has a base success rate of 25% and each item with Luck increases that chance by an additional 5%.

The item upgrade overlays are displayed above items in the inventory. This can block enchantment effects as well as other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the item upgrader (telegra.ph said in a blog post) CORE client config.
