1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have tested. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobots (including the most powerful model) they utilize smart mapping to produce precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also have a feature called Carpet Boost that increases its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept in cleaning dog hair. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of them is that the Q5's navigation doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to getting hung up on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.
However, it's a good choice for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and can work while you're at work or going to school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't hold on very well and can't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. If you want to change the mopping pad to a dry one in just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into an elegant, compact package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features a powerful suction and an automatic vacuum cleaner bin for emptying. You can alter its cleaning schedule and set up zones through the well-designed app. Its battery life is average when compared to other models.

Its flex arm is also perfect for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum/mop which could sweep the entire house and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a good job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms with mixed flooring types, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was superb and it was able to avoid fake dog turds and socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically emptys into its base, and also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature that we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

This is thanks to a combination modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.
Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an easy mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's still quite a noisy unit, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you attempt to sleep.
It's also a bit expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable however, it's more expensive and make more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and fills up the water tank, and cleans and dries mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to create floorplans and identify obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time but this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner comes with an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also comes with an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the house depending on how dirty these areas tend to be.
For larger homes, it's worth opting for one with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean one particular area of your home via the app or via voice commands. A stairway mode is useful if you own a large furniture. Also the recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you would expect from its price tag. It does a stellar job vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad and a reciprocating movement that is more efficient than most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tried. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying base that is washable.
The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to organize a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas to improve performance. The app comes with a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and underneath furniture better. It also has a powerful suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. And you can set up a spot cleaning that intensely cleans a localized area.

It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums that we have test. It also comes with an app that is less intuitive and a small base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
