Check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris as well as hair. Clean them as needed. Some models will also empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in an additional bin located at the base. This can reduce the amount of fine dust that gets released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have tested. They are equipped with motors that are top-of-the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. And, like other top iRobot models (including the top-rated model), they use smart mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also have Carpet Boost, a feature that increases its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our bare floor tests, and they're particularly adept in removing pet hair. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to get stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well during our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of an area.

It's still a good value particularly if your home or office has a lot of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and can be used while you are at work or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with an auto-emptying dock, however. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be changed for one that is wet in just a few just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its smart cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with a powerful suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, but it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensor technology that can keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and ensure more efficient cleaning. The app lets you set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average in comparison to similar models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to take off and extend its mop. This will help prevent cross contamination. The flex arm is great for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to clean an entire home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a great job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms with mixed flooring types, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was great and it was able to avoid fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums this feature, which we've not seen on other robotic hoovers vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that appears more like a normal Roomba than the competition's boxy units, this robot cleaner with mop vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive looking models in our tests. The newest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent, with advanced features including enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop that has a perfect 10 in our evaluations, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It comes with a simple mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in mornings prior to work or in the evening when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive, though it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally capable and more attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however it will cost you more and create more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes care of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot uses an array of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and spot obstacles, and navigates more effectively than some of its premium rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection, though this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also has an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house based on how dirty the areas are.

For larger houses it's recommended to choose models with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a particular area of your house using the app or via voice commands. A stairway mode is useful if you have a lot furniture. For busy families, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum reviews vacuum to pick up where it left off can be extremely useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than the price suggests. It vacuums well, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad and a reciprocating motion that cleans better that most of the robot mop cleaners that we've examined. It's also self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to prioritize your most filthy rooms for better performance. The app also provides access to a host of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. It also has the ability to set up a spot clean that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like adorable eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to be caught by low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested.
