Robot vacuums and mop are becoming more capable. They have passed our tests for cleaning, and can handle a variety of flooring. Choose models that allow you to choose between multiple modes, self-empty and clean stairs.

Many of the top models work with your smartphone. Look for an app that allows you to save schedules, maps and choose cleaning modes.

1. Eufy Omni S1 Pro

Eufy's gunmetal-and-gloss black Omni S1 Pro is one of the most impressive robot vacuum and mop combos on the market. It makes use of lidar to navigate and create maps of rooms and floors (even multiple levels), and works with the free Eufy Clean application that lets you set schedules and alter the S1's behaviour.

The S1 requires periodic maintenance, just like all 2-in-1 robots. In order to do this, you'll have to rinse out the water tank that is dirty regularly to keep it from becoming clogged. Also, you'll need to clean the swivel wheel and sensors frequently to avoid them from getting blocked by dirt or dust. Overall the S1 requires less maintenance than other combos.

Mopping capabilities are quite good with a pair of spinning mop heads that lift and scrub the floor instead of drag the pad across it. The mops are also cleaned with hot water and dried in the base station when needed. Mops are also refilled from the top of the base station as required.

3. Dreame X40 Ultra

Dreame released the luxe X30 Ultra earlier this year however their latest top-of-the-line robot mop and vacuum has more impressive features. It offers outstanding cleaning results and hands-off maintenance, making it a clear contender on our top mop and robot vacuum list. Its superior mapping capabilities, RGB AI smart detection and an extended side brush will ensure an effective, customized cleaning is accomplished.

The X40 Ultra does an excellent job of vacuuming, removing large and fine particles from hard floors as well as carpets. It also cleaned the most filthy areas well, and avoiding tangled pet hairs and other messes. The Q5 is one of the few robots we test that didn't have problems with carpets with high piles or area carpets, but it didn't remove cables or kitty litter that's not a surprise since it does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance.

5. K10 Plus
