2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the most recent version of Roborock's most popular robot vacuum and mop is the most recent version. It's not like the model from last year this one has two agitators in its mopping pad which significantly improves its carpet cleaning capabilities. The S8 Pro Ultra has an improved suction capacity that enables it to pull up finer hairs and other debris other robotic cleaners may miss.

Like the other two Roborock models I've tested, this one has reactive 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology to helps it avoid walls, furniture and other obstacles. However, the S8 Pro Ultra takes things a step further by adding a dual camera which can recognize objects and determine whether they are an object that is a wall or a different surface. It then can alter its path automatically and clean the objects without missing a step.

It's the most expensive model I've tested however it also comes with the most features. Its sleek and angular design is eye catching, and it only has three buttons that are physically accessible. The power button, which also resumes the cleaning, a mop button that doubles as a child-lock and a home-button that can take the robot vacuums that mop to its dock. The hinged lid opens to reveal a 350ml trash bin and 200ml of water tank. The water tank is automatically filled and the bin auto vacuum and mop-refills.

The only issue I have discovered with this model is that its VibraRise mop pad mount isn't movable. Although you can change the mopping cloth (if necessary) however, it's a hassle to remove the mount for manual washing. I've found that any plush carpet that the robot passes will be in contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener mechanism on the mount, and that can cause abrasions.

The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart capabilities which include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can set up and manage these through the Roborock app, which is also home to its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app lets you plan cleanings and monitor battery life. You'll have to go through a few steps to enable voice control on this model. It's a shame, considering how well-performing it is otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

The app is simple to use and intuitive and the X40 has many smart features that are easy to install. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, adjust suction power and mode, look at floor plans and mapping and manage mopping settings. The X40 can also track its progress and notify you when it's done.

The X40 is easy to maintain and comes with many features that make it a great choice for busy families. Its docking station automatically empties the dustbin into a huge 3.2 L bin, cleans mop pads and refills them with clean water and a cleaning solution. It also can detect when the mop pad is overflowing and notify you before it gets overflowing, reducing the need for manual maintenance.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra robot is one of the most expensive models available on the market. It does have many features that make it stand out. Smart DuoScrub, a new feature on its mops, uses two high-speed mop heads to scrub floors more thoroughly. It also has a maximum suction force of 7,000Pa. This is much higher than that of the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni and can remove pet hair and smaller dirt particles and also pick up spills and wet spots.

The mop is also cleaned and dried inside the base station after every use. This is an excellent feature since it prevents the build-up of mould and unpleasant odours in the storage area, and it also makes the mop system a lot more efficient. This is a system we haven't yet seen on other robot vacuums and mop models and could be a good way of keeping your home hygienic for longer.

There's an impressive amount of settings available that include the ability to schedule cleaning and adjust a variety of preferences. The app allows you to set these preferences or make use of the buttons on the device itself. The app is simple to use and offers a variety of options for customizing your cleaning routine. It also comes with a number of features that aren't available on other robots, such as the Clean Genius Mode, which automatically increases suction when it detects any dust particles.

The L20 Ultra has a stylish design that has a white-and-metallic look that looks elegant and sophisticated. It's a bit heavier than the other two-in-one robots in this list, at 4kg - but it's not obscenely heavy either, and it is sturdy and well-built. The mopping design is also excellent, and the double rotating mop works well on hard floors and in corners. They can even extend to 2mm of baseboards thanks to the MopExtend feature which is a nice touch.
