The Best Robot Hoover
The best robot vacuum and mop robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention. It will leave your floors spotless. Its low cost and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.
Check your robot vacuum with mop's brushes frequently for tangled debris and hair. Wash them if needed. Some models will automatically empty their onboard dustbin into a larger bin at the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They feature motors that are top of the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the most powerful model) they employ intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans that avoid obstacles like furniture legs. The robots also have a feature called Carpet Boost that increases its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests of floors with no carpet, and they are particularly adept in cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have a few flaws however, which hinder them from being our top choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to become entangled in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.
It's still a good value particularly if your office or home has a lot of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save money. Plus, it's very quiet and can work while you're at work or going to school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be changed for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of minutes.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has a self-emptying bin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover (use Technetbloggers here) for carpets, however it's not as good as other hoovers when it comes to deep cleaning.
This high-performing mop and vacuum combo utilizes advanced sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste and it also learns your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average in comparison to similar models.
When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to remove and extend its mops. This can help avoid cross contamination. Its flex arm is also perfect for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to sweep the entire house, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It did a great cleaning job on different rooms and floors with various flooring types including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was great and it stayed clear of fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming, a feature that hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competitors' boxes, this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most appealing looking in our reviews. The latest model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It comes with advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's also the only robot vacuum or mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to a mix of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.
As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is easy to use, offering a simple mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in the mornings before work, or in the evening when you are trying to fall asleep.
It's also a bit expensive, though it's not as expensive as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are similarly capable and more attractive. If you're willing to live with a bit more noise and some extra cost it's a powerful two-in-one that will please almost everyone.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device like Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically empty the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, as well as washes and dries mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.
Its vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the home based on how dirty these areas are.
If you own a larger home, it is worth selecting a model with a the option of cleaning zones or spots. This allows you to instruct the robot on which part of your home needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice command. A stairway mode is useful if you own a large furniture. For families that are busy recharge functions and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off can be very beneficial.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you'd think from its price. It is a great job cleaning, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad that has an oscillating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying base that is washable.
The iRobot app is designed to guide you through a mapping run that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to set up the spot-cleaning. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas to improve performance. The app comes with a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It is equipped with an impressive 8000 Pascal suction, as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. And you can set up a spot clean that intensely cleans a localized area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute little eyes. It does a good job vacuuming but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robot vacuums we've tried. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
