The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and leaves your floors spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detector) are both positives.
Examine your robot's brush regularly for tangled debris and hair. Wash them if needed. Some models will automatically empty their onboard dust bin into a larger bin at the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuum reviews vacuums we've examined. They are equipped with motors that are top-of-the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the most powerful model) they utilize intelligent mapping to design precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture leg. The robots also have Carpet Boost, a feature that boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our bare floor tests They're also particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to become stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate rooms with lots of people well during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.
It's still a good value for those whose office or home has lots of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save money. It's also extremely quiet and can be used while you're at work or in school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has an auto-emptying dock, however. And, if you have to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of minutes.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient in taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying dustbin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and ensure more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.
It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when in a carpeted room, which helps prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.
In tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete the entire house with only 66 percent of its battery left. It did a great cleaning job on various rooms and floors with various flooring types including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it swiftly eluded fake dog turds, socks, shoes and cables.
It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming it, something hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
With an elegant circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba rather than the compact models this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive designs in our tests. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's also the only robot vacuum/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it boasts the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to use. It comes with a simple mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 still a loud unit. This can be a problem in the mornings prior to work or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.
It's also quite expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however, it's going to cost you more and make more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes charge of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of a combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than some of its premium competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.
Its vacuum has a high suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the automatic vacuum cleaner works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home according to how dirty they tend to be.
For larger houses it's worth looking for one with spot or zone cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a particular area of your house by using the app or voice controls. If you have lots of furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. Finally the recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum continue where it left off is ideal for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than its price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using only one pad and a reciprocating motion that cleans better that most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tested. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying base that can be washed.
The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, set up the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritise your dirtiest rooms to ensure better performance. The app offers a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuum uk vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. You can also create a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean an area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, however it is more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums we have examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
