Private ADHD Titration

There is currently a national shortage of medication to treat ADHD symptoms. This is due both to manufacturing problems as well as an increased global demand.

Our service can offer private ADHD testing as an alternative to waiting for NHS funding through Right to Choose. Our fees for assessments include the cost of one prescription.

Titration

human-givens-institute-logo.pngA comprehensive assessment of your ADHD symptoms will be conducted with an experienced consultant Psychiatrist. This includes a complete medical history, and an evaluation using the typical adhd titration uk questionnaires and rating scales.

Following your assessment you will be informed if medication is considered to be beneficial in your case. This will happen at your follow up appointment (which can be done in person, via video link or by telephone). Your physician will go over the different options for medication available. If you decide to start taking medication, we will help you to titrate your dose to optimize the benefits/side-effects balance for you.

This is a process which may take several weeks and involves adjusting your child's medication gradually until the proper balance is achieved. It's not uncommon to to titrate up to three different medicines before you find the one that best fits your child's ADHD. Parents must be involved in this titration process, and keep an eye on their child's behaviour to let the doctor know if the medicine is helping or causing side effects.

If you do not decide to return to NHS treatment the medication you take will be issued with a private prescription which you'll need to pay for at the pharmacy (this is not included in your consultation fees). You must attend six-monthly appointments to monitor your medications. This includes pulse and blood pressure measurements. Annual checks are also required.

Follow-up appointments

After the assessment is complete after the assessment is completed, you can make follow-up appointments with your psychiatrist. Usually the appointment will take place via a zoom video call but in certain circumstances it might be possible to do an audio only consultation (again at an extra cost).

In this session, we'll discuss any treatment options and come up with a unique ADHD medication titration strategy. This will include a discussion and review of your medication dose and any side effects that you may be experiencing. The titration sessions cost PS150 for face-to-face sessions and PS60 via telephone or video consultation. The pharmacy will charge you for any charges for medication.

The psychiatrist will ask questions about your family history and the impact of your ADHD symptoms on your life and any relationship problems or mental health issues that you might be experiencing. This is due to the fact that ADHD is a genetic condition and it is important to examine any family history that may suggest that you are at risk of developing the disorder.

It is important to be honest and truthful with your doctor during the assessment, since the information they gather will be used to determine if your ADHD fits the diagnostic criteria. This is an important step, since a wrong diagnosis could lead to inappropriate medication prescription.

If you decide to receive treatment for adhd titration private we'll schedule an appointment to follow-up with a psychiatrist that is skilled in this area. If you aren't sure what your preference is it is recommended that you talk with your GP before booking your private assessment as some providers have different policies about whether they require the submission of a GP referral letter or not. We also suggest to check if your GP accepts a "Shared Care Agreement that means that once discharged from the clinic, you will be referred back to them for the prescription for the medication.

Medication

For many people who seek an official diagnosis of adhd titration meaning treatment is an important element of their treatment. It can be difficult to get a prescription from a psychiatrist on the NHS. NHS waiting lists can be notoriously long and GPs might be reluctant to refer patients to specialist services.

They will help your physician determine any issues that could mean you shouldn't take ADHD medications if they're prescribed.

If you are being titrated the medication will consist of stimulants and nonstimulant medicines. They will be carefully tested and monitored to find the best combination for you, taking into consideration any medical conditions you may have. The titration process adhd process can be lengthy and may need some additional appointments before you are stable on your dosage.

Depending on the kind of medication you're taking, follow-up appointments can be scheduled either monthly or quarterly. This could cost more than prescriptions from the NHS because the pharmacy will charge you for the medication.
