Private ADHD Titration

Our service offers private ADHD titration instead of waiting for NHS funding via Right to Choose. Our fees for assessments include the cost of one prescription.

Titration

A highly experienced psychiatrist consultant will conduct a thorough evaluation of your ADHD. This includes a complete medical history, and an assessment using the common ADHD questionnaires and rating scales.

After your evaluation, you will be advised that medication may be beneficial in your case. The discussion will take place at your follow-up appointment (which could be in person, via video link or over the phone). Your clinician will discuss the various options for medications available. If you decide to begin medication, we will help you the option of titrating your dose to optimize the benefits/side-effects balance for you.

This process may take a few weeks and requires gradually altering your child’s medication until the appropriate balance is reached. It's not uncommon to have to adjust up to three different medications until you discover the one that best fits your child's ADHD. Parents must be involved in this titration process and keep an watchful eye on their child's behavior so that they can inform the doctor whether the medication is helping or causing side effects.

If you do not decide to return to NHS treatment the medication you take will be given as a private prescription which you will need to pay for at the pharmacy (this is not included in your consultation fee). You will be required to attend six monthly appointments to monitor your medication. This includes pulse and blood pressure readings. Annual reviews are also required.

Follow-up appointments

Once the assessment has been completed you will be able to schedule follow-up appointments with the psychiatrist as appropriate. Typically, the appointment will take place through a video call using zoom however in some instances it might be possible to do an audio only consultation (again at an additional cost).

At this point we will discuss any treatment options we have and agree upon a bespoke individualised ADHD medication titration strategy. This will include a discussion and review of your medication dose, as well as any adverse effects you might be experiencing. The cost for these titration sessions is PS150 for face-to face sessions and PS60 for telephone or online video consultations. The cost of medication is additional and are paid directly to the pharmacy.
