The Best Robot Hoover
The best robot automatic hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and will leave your floors spotless. Its affordable price and high-end features (such as dirt detectors) are both positives.
Be sure to regularly check your robot's brushes for tangled hair and large particles, and wash them when needed. Some models will also empty the dust bin on board and then deposit it in an additional bin located at the base. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've examined. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobot models (including the top choice) they employ smart mapping technology to design precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also come with a feature called Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our tests on floors that are bare, and they're particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our first choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology, so it's prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of a room.
It's still a great deal, especially if your home or office has a lot of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save some money. It's also quiet and can be used while you are at work or at school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying dock, though. And, if you need to change the mopping pad to a dry one in seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can sweep floors. Its smart cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also has an impressive suction system and an automatic vacuum and mop robot bin for emptying. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, although it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.
This top-performing combination vacuum and mop makes use of advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it will learn the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and customize zones using the app that is well-designed. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models.
You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when in a room with carpet, which helps prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm is perfect for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete an entire home, and it did so with only 66 percent of its battery left. It also did an excellent job cleaning a range of floors and rooms with various flooring types, such as some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
With an elegant, circular design that looks like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxy units, this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive looking models in our reviews. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).
It's the only robotic mop or vacuum to score 100% in our testing thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.
Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is easy to use, offering an easy mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's still quite loud which could be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.
It's also a bit expensive, but it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are similarly capable and look better. If you're willing to put up with a little more noise and some additional cost this is a efficient two-in-one device that should please almost everyone.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a variety of sophisticated features that will let you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take charge of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum mop cleaner robot's dustbin, refills its water tank and cleans and dry its mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of an array of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and identify obstacles, and navigates more effectively than some of its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was sometimes confused with obstructions or power cords.
The vacuum cleaner comes with an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home in accordance with the degree of dirt they are.
For bigger homes it's worth looking for one with spot or zone cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a specific area of your home via the app or voice commands. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair mode is also useful. For busy families recharge functions and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be extremely useful.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It is a great job vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad that has a reciprocating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tried. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying washable base.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to ensure better performance. The app comes with a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it can reach corners and under furniture more easily. It features a powerful 8000 Pascal suction, as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, however it is more likely to get caught in low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums we have tested. It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that doesn't double as an emptying bin.
