The best automatic vacuum robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and it will leave your floors clean. Its low cost and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are pluses.

Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our tests on floors that are bare They're also particularly adept in removing pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws, however, that prevent them from being our first option. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to get stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.

However, it's a good choice, especially if you want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or at school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with an auto-emptying dock, however. If you want to, you can switch the mopping pad to a dry one in minutes.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can sweep floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and effective at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This highly efficient mop and vacuum combination utilizes advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it also learns the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to other models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when it's in a room with carpet which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also great for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum/mop which could complete the task of cleaning a whole home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a good job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms with mixed flooring types, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was great and it was able to avoid fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically fills up its base, and it supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming this feature, which we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With a sleek circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba rather than the boxes, this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive looking models in our tests. iRobot's latest flagship model also is among the most intelligent model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that scored 100% in our testing, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it boasts its own self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models, the X40 is easy to use, offering an easy mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in the mornings prior to work or at night when you're trying to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, although it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally powerful and better-looking. If you're willing to live some more volume and some additional cost this is a powerful two-in-one that will satisfy most people.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a variety of sophisticated features that will let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum, refills the water tank, as well as washes and drys the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of the combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and spot obstacles, navigating more intelligently than some of its premium rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, though this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was often confused with power cords or obstructions.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than the price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion that cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've examined. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying base that is washable.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate a mapping run which collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to improve performance. The app also gives access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuum cleaner reviews vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and underneath furniture better. It also has strong 8000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. You can also create a spot-clean that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, however it is more likely to be caught in low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums that we've examined. It also has an app that's not as intuitive and has a tiny base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
