It also has adjustable reclining, UPF 50+ canopy, and windows that peek out. It also has a clever frame that expands widthways to accommodate a second seat, and also a compatible car seat(s).

Side-by-Side

The majority of the lightweight double pushchairs that we tested were side-by-side models. These are best for children who can sit up without assistance, as they aren't as likely to have car seat compatibility. However they do have a few advantages. Thule Urban Glide 2 Double and the Baby Trend Sit 'N Stand Double are both excellent options that offer adjustable recline in both seats, a huge canopy, and padded 5-point harnesses. They are also easy to move around, despite their larger footprint. They are ideal for parents who worry about fitting through doors.

The Cybex Duet pushchair is unique because it features a unique frame that expands in width to allow for another child seat. This makes it smaller than other pushchairs with side-by-side seating. This means it fits through standard doors and is easy to maneuver on public transportation. It can also be used as an jogger which is perfect for those who plan to use it with an infant car seat or baby carrier.

The UPPAbaby Vista v2 double is another fantastic side-by-side double that is lightweight. It provides even more customization thanks to a modular frame. It has a smart design that lets you convert it into a single stroller or a double by incorporating 2 carrycots or car seats (it can even take twins). It's a great option for families with growing children and the UPPAbaby makes one of the tiniest and most fashionable umbrella strollers available.

If you're looking for a compact, lightweight double, consider the egg2 which folds down to the size of a tiny suitcase. It can be used as a single double with the addition of 2 carrycots or infant car seats, and our home testers were awed by how simple and sleek it was to use even when stuffed with children.

Although they're light double pushchairs that sit side-by-side are not foolproof. If your children are at the same age and stage, they could still argue over who gets to sit in which seat. If they are at different heights, then a tandem style may be best for them, as it allows them to face eachother.

Tandem

While side-by-side models are more suitable for siblings of the same age, tandem lightweight double pushchairs offer their own perks. Some can fit carseats that are larger, and others have reversible seats. Some even come with an additional carrycot or reclined seat that can be flipped in the middle. They are more spacious, and easier to get in and out of. However their baskets tend to be smaller than those found on buggies that are single. They also have larger large canopies that have peekaboo windows and a cup holder for the parent and padded leg cushions for little ones.

The iCandy Peach is another example of a great value lightweight tandem. Its fabric feels a bit less luxurious than our other top-rated tandems, but it looks and feels great and is easy to use. Its one-handed folding is impressive. Even though it requires some time to master, Kirstie from our Lab described it as "genius". It's not possible to fold it with the carrycot attached but the mechanism for attaching and taking it off road double buggy it is simple and fast.

Tandem lightweight double strollers will usually make tighter turning than side-by-side models. However, they may be difficult to drive on uneven surfaces and curbs. They are also slower to accelerate and heavier to move. This can put stress on your back.

Another option is a convertible double buggy, which is initially an individual and then you can add adapters that turn it into a double. This can include the option of a second hand double buggy seat or carrycot on the front, or the children can be seated side-byside. Some of them also offer the option of incorporating buggy boards that can help an older child keep up with a younger sibling.

The Uppababy Vista V2 is a good example of a convertible since it can be converted into a twin pram with the purchase of additional cocoons (PS59 each) that create a lie-flat area for infants. These can be placed on top of each other or positioned to one another, and you can use them in conjunction with the infant car seat that is included with the pushchair (as as long as you select an appropriate one). As they're made with quality materials, these types of dual-use buggies can often be used for many years without showing any wear, indicating they have high potential for resale.

Single-to-cheap double stroller

This lightweight double buggy was designed for families who love the outdoors and want to upgrade from a single-stroller. It can be transformed into a jogger with a kit that includes air-filled tires as well as all-wheel suspension. It's also a great option for twins or children from different age groups, and as triple tandem double stroller, it can take on rough terrain. It's an excellent choice for parents who want a chic style that's as elegant as a single. It comes in various colors of fabric.

This iCandy model is easy to fold using the use of a single hand. Although it's heavier than some of the other single-to-double pushchairs in this review, home tester Karolina claimed that it feels extremely maneuverable, even with two toddlers and a carrycot.

The seat can be used with the parent facing and you can purchase additional accessories for this stroller such as the Roma Gemini carrycots (PS100 each) that are perfect for babies. Our panel of testers found that the seats to be comfortable for toddlers, with good headrests and lumbar support. And there are a variety of options for recline in the front, with the seat being able to be adjusted to different positions and the rear seat having the option of recline.

This type of buggy has the biggest disadvantage of being a bit wider than doubles that are side-by-side. This makes it difficult to maneuver through doorways, and it can be difficult to get up and down kerbs. However, the wheels and suspension on these models generally are capable of handling paved surfaces, and the fact that they're usually much lighter than some of the side-by-sides, means you still have plenty of storage space. These strollers can be difficult to maneuver in supermarkets with narrow aisles, and they can be difficult to carry a lot. Although it's easier to turn the stroller on a narrow, curving path, this can be a challenge. Some are also more easy to turn than others, like the Thule Urban Glide 2 Double and the Baby Trend Sit N' Stand Double, for instance.

Convertible

Convertible double pushchairs are ideal because they are able to be adapted to the changing requirements of a family. They typically start as single buggies, but have adapters that allow you to add a second seat, a carrycot, or (in some cases) an automobile seat to the frame. Some can be converted back to a single buggie when your child reaches the age of walk or wants to ride a buggyboard.

One of the Lightest cheap double buggy Stroller (Weheardit.Stream) double strollers on our list, this fashionable tri-fold model can carry children as heavy as 40 pounds each. It also has a handy basket in between the seats for storage. This multi-functional tandem is a popular choice from our home testers due to its maneuverability and large shopping basket that is accessible with both seats in the parent-facing position. Its light weight (about the same as some single pushchairs) makes it easy to move. Reversible seats mean you can flip them to face either direction and the clever method by which it connects an additional seat or riding board to the rear is praised by many. Parents also appreciated that it accommodates infant carriers and car seat from various brands. This includes those that aren't normally compatible with other double buggies.
