Our panelists loved it but it is important to remember that there are no straps to fix it to your bed. It could move as you rest.

The panelists who loved this topper also appreciated the fact that it helped ease back pain. It's a great choice for sleepers with heavier weights who might consider a mattress with three to four inches can ease pressure on a sensitive area like shoulders and hips.

This is ideal for anyone looking to upgrade a soft mattress, or rejuvenate a bed that's in a guest room, dorm or rental. This mattress is unique in that it has five zones of different densities. It conforms to your body and provides enough support.

The cover of this topper is made of 100% microfiber polyester that has been brushed, and it has the baffle box structure that creates pockets of filling to keep it evenly distributed. It also features four elastic straps in each corner to help keep the cover securely on your mattress. The copper-infused memory absorbs heat from the body which keeps you cool during the night. It's topped off with a 2" layer of ventilated memory for more breathability.

The Retreat is a fantastic mattress topper if you want an extra soft feel. When Strategist writer Louise tried it out, she reported that the mattress quickly adapted to her body shape and supported her, making her feel well-supported and at ease. Another option that's firm is this one from Parachute that offers shredded foam that isn't as dense as traditional memory foam but is still extremely comfortable. Strategist contributor Lauren Levy says that it's "much cheaper than a down-topper" and provides similar marshmallow softness and baffle-box construction. She enjoyed sleeping on it, but wouldn't recommend it for front sleepers due to her torso got smashed by the top.

A topper made from natural wool fleece is hypoallergenic and soft. It's not as breathable, and can make you feel hot at night. A cotton topper is also an option, since it's breathable and helps keep you cool. Some topper fabrics are even infused with graphite, copper and gel infusions to help you stay cool.

Lauren Levy, a Strategist contributor, was awed by the fact that this topper is "marshmallow-soft" and features an enveloping baffle box with pillows-like fiber-fill. Plus, it's hypoallergenic, and comes with a machine-washable cover to ensure the cleanliness of your bed.

The topper's 2" layer of copper-infused memory foam helps to increase airflow and wicks away moisture while you sleep which allows you to stay cool. Levy discovered that it was very supportive, even though it didn't bounce more than latex toppers. It's great for side, back or stomach sleepers and those with chronic pain who require extra cushioning.

A 10-year warranty and free shipping come standard. The topper is easy to clean by spot-cleaning it and letting it air dry. It is not recommended to put it in a washer or dryer as this will void the warranty.

The Sleep Innovations Gel Cooling Memory Foam Topper is a great budget option for a comfortable, supportive mattress. It is medium (5) firm, making it suitable for most sleepers. However those who feel their mattress is too firm can benefit from this mattress. It also helps prevent motion transfer which is a must for combination sleepers. It also eases neck and shoulder discomfort, like the Coop Home Goods Retreat topper. This topper comes with one drawback that it might not breathe as well as foam or latex, so it is not the best choice for sleepers who are hot.

The Nolah Beds Luxury Plush Memory Foam Topper is an excellent option for back sleepers who want to soften their firm mattress topper double thick as well as for side sleepers who want extra cushioning. This topper can also help reduce pressure points, making it a good option for those suffering from chronic pain. It's manufactured in the USA with non-toxic materials and is a solid pick for hot sleepers as well. It features a 2" layer of a clever copper-infused foam that encourages breathable as well as providing support. It also comes with an organic cotton cover that provides optimal moisture management. This topper was found by our test subject Paige to be extremely effective at blocking motion transfer. It also provided a significant amount of softness, without giving up any support. However, she noted that the edges did not fully fit her mattress If support for the edges is important to you, this might not be the best mattress for you.
