The Best Robot Hoover
The best automatic vacuum robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and it leaves your floors spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line functions (such as a dirt detector) are both positives.
Check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris as well as hair. Wash them if needed. Some models can also self-empty the dust bin on board and then deposit it in a larger bin located at the base. This can reduce the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model) they employ smart mapping to create detailed floorplans that avoid obstacles such as cords and furniture leg. They also have carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it sees the presence of dirt on the carpet to get it clean quickly.
Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our tests on floors that are bare and are particularly effective at cleaning pet hair. There are some issues, however, that prevent them from being our top option. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to get stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.
However, it's a good choice, especially if you want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and operates while you're at work or in school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on for long and don't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with one that is wet in just a few minutes.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has an impressive suction system and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performing mop and vacuum mop cleaner robot combo utilizes advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it learns your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and set up zones through the well-designed app. Its battery life is average compared to similar models.
When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to remove and extend its mops. This will help prevent cross contamination. Its flex arm can also be utilized to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire house, finishing with 66 percent of its battery left. It did a good cleaning job on a variety of rooms and floors with various kinds of flooring, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was superb, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.
It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically fills up its base, and supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming it, something we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
With an elegant, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competition's boxes this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive looking models in our evaluations. The latest model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It has advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.
As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is easy to use, offering a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in the mornings before work, or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.
It's also quite expensive but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing to put up some more volume and some extra cost this is a efficient two-in-one device that should delight most.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a lot of advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine like Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and refills the water tank, and cleans and dries mop pads.
The smart robot vacuums with mop employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its top rivals. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time hazard detection however, it wasn't 100% foolproof during our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house according to the amount of dirt they are.
For larger homes it's worth looking for models that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a particular area of your house via the app or via voice commands. A stairway mode is useful if you have a lot furniture. For busy families, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off could be very useful.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It is a great job vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using only one pad and a reciprocating motion that is more efficient than most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tried. And it's highly self-sufficient with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app guides you through a mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to set up a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency. The app comes with a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it can get to corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has a strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot cleaning that scours a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute little eyes. It is great at vacuuming, however it is more likely to get caught in low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also comes with an app that is less intuitive and a small base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
