UPVC Replacement Door Handles
As time passes the handles on your doors will wear out and will require replacement. It is essential to match the dimensions of the old handles when replacing them.
The three measurements to check are the top screw's location as well as the key hole and lever dimensions. Check the size guide for assistance in this.
Inline Lever/Lever
A lever door handle is a modern handle that can be put in on new or replacement double glazing handles doors. This style door handle is available in a variety of styles & finishes. This handle is offered by a number of manufacturers including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.
Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle
The door handles made of uPVC/Composite are made of sturdy materials and are ideal for doors with multi-point locks that require a heavy duty design. The handles are inline, and they utilize the same screws and spindle to secure them. They are easily fitted on any uPVC/Composite doors.
The design of the sprung lever allows the handle to be set and angled to ensure a comfortable experience and is suitable for all users. The handle has been endurance tested to 200,000 cycles, this will ensure the quality of the finish and performance of the handle over time. The sprung lever can be shortened to fit the widest range of locks. This is particularly useful in doors that are narrower, where the cylinder is further back from the door. A lever that is shorter can be used for doors that have a latch that can be activated with the thumb on the inside.
Lever Pad
The lever pad upvc handle is distinct from the lever handles that are commonly found on doors. These handles can use a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side using two offset spindles or inline (pad). They are commonly utilized on UPVC doors with double glazed window handles glazing. They come in a variety of finishes & variations.
The handles have been tested to the minimum of 200 000 cycles and are available in various finishes like White and Silver, as well as Chrome & Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to rust. This provides the handle with an outstanding performance and durability to serve its intended use.
All UPVC lever pads for handles come with a spindle, screws, and can be fitted on a uPVC door. The backplate fixing centers of 211mm allow for a wider size of handle which can be beneficial when replacing a damaged or worn multi point door lock mechanism. The handle levers come with a spring, which solves the issue of handles for doors that slide out of horizontal position when they are not being used.
When choosing a replacement UPVC handle and spindle, it is crucial to match the dimensions of the PZ of the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC door. This measurement is also known as the "handle centre" or "cylinder centres' and is a critical aspect in ensuring that you have the correct handles.
Once you have the correct PZ size, you'll need to ensure that the window handle replacement lever pads and push pads are in a suitable shape for the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) approved handles you need for your doors. They typically have a square or round shape with an internal lever as well as an external push pad.
The majority of UPVC lever pads we offer are sprung, which means that they return to their horizontal position after not in use, rather than hanging out and possibly securing in the frame. This helps prevent the draughts and cold air from entering a home. You will also find that the majority of UPVC lever pad handles are hand-operated which allows you to place them on either side of the door.
Euro Cylinder
Cylinder locks are commonly found on uPVC doors, but they can also be used on other types of doors. They operate by using a key that unlock a cylinder case that then reveals pins which can be aligned to those inside the lock body, allowing them to turn a revolving cam, thus opening the door. Euro cylinders can be equipped with up to six pins with external and internal doors generally requiring different levels of security.
The selection of a cylinder is essential. It's dependent on the use that your doors and handles will receive. External doors, for instance should be equipped with higher security cylinders and internal doors can be secured with a standard cylinder. In addition, some cylinders are available with extra features that can improve security even more, like anti-drill or anti-bump features.
To ensure that the euro cylinder is the right size for your door, it must be measured accurately. The cylinder should be measured from the hole for fixing screws in the middle to each end of the cylinder and the thumb turn if you have one. It is recommended to do this with the lock in place however if this is not possible, you may remove it to take measurements. It is essential to not have a cylinder that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This could make it vulnerable to lock snapping attacks.
Most modern cylinders are made with bump and anti-drill features included in their design. These are designed to reduce the risk of attack by forcing the cylinder rotate in the opposite direction. This helps stop the attack and ensure your doors are secure.
Some cylinders are designed to resist snapping. This is a common occurrence on cylinders. A special tool is used to break the break line of the lock, and then the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is a quicker and more convenient method of gaining access than using the use of a multipoint locking system. It also leaves no evidence of the break-in which can make it difficult to prove insurance claims.
Spring Cassette
This spring cassette is located inside the base plate of your door handle. It offers a spring-loaded solution to return your multipoint lock handles back to their normal position after use. These handles for bifold doors used to have no spring and would drop when the locking mechanism was disengaged. The addition of this simple element is one of the best ways to correct this issue and is an effective way to keep your upvc doors from getting stuck in an open or closed position, as they are not always easy to manually close by hand.
These spring cassettes were designed to be used with a sprung multipoint lock. They won't work with handles that are not sprung and you'll have to cut a hole in your backplate for them to fit. (Please look at the image for a detailed diagram). These cassettes are a replacement to broken or missing cassettes on the backplate of uPVC door handles. They have an elongated square that allows for an 8mm spindle to be used and they are supplied individually.
These spring cassettes are a great cost-effective way to fix the problem of your door handles sliding. They are simple to install and will increase the life span of your uPVC doors.
