1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO and its sibling the i3 EVO are the same robots, but they differ in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. This makes the i3+ a great option for those who want an automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but aren't afraid of having to empty their dust bin manually as it gets full.

Both robots are proficient at picking up surface dirt on hard floors and carpets and are able to navigate around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home that aid the i3+ in its navigation and clean efficiently. The i3+ doesn't have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or any other top-rated robots that we test. It can be stuck on power cords and socks and have trouble moving between different surfaces like carpet and hardwood.

iRobot recommends you clear out areas in which the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, including clearing out any clutter or toys it may come across. It's also a good idea to keep the dustbin and filter clean so that they do not become blocked by dirt. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is depleted, it returns to the docking station and empties the dirt into the station's dust bin. Then it continues cleaning where it started. The battery's lifespan is around an hour and a half of continuous use. It takes about three hours to charge.

2. iRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model of the flagship line from iRobot, and it comes with all the latest features. It has self-charging and self-navigating. However, the most important feature is the self-emptying bin. This removes the need for routine maintenance.

The Roomba i7+ can remember up to 10 floor plans and their names thanks to Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that allows it to identify rooms to clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning jobs, and you can control your robot via the app or by voice.

The i7+ is more efficient and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also cleaned large pet hair pieces from any surface, including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin which eliminates the main sources of maintenance and reduces the cost of maintenance.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services, which we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning session and to move around the room, and even vacuum an area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and easy with the iRobot Home app. We were able, once connected, to speak commands to the i7+ like "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options for managing the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car in a sea of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It's powerful and has features to replace a stand-up vacuum in many households, but it also fits in well next to the table for a coffee or shelves that you can spin around like a magic tool.

The V10 is powered with a 7-cell energy-dense Lithium-ion battery that produces energy that lasts for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filter system captures allergens and expels clean air back into your home. Its specialized cleaning head drives stiff nylon bristles deep into carpets to trap large dust and crumbs. It has three suction modes that can be adapted to the task. It is able to quickly switch between handheld and floor vacuum, and vice versa.

This model has an attached dock that charges the Dyson to 100% in 3.5 hours. It also offers an easy access to two attachments as well as an Wand. This is a huge improvement over earlier Dysons models, that require a long charge and are a pain to store.

The main drawback of the V10 is its sluggish run time. Its claims on the market that it can last up to 60 minutes of run time are not true as CR's tests show. This is a typical and not a remarkable time for the battery-powered cordless vacuum. It's enough time to sweep the typical home however, it's not enough time to reach every area. This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than older Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is noticeable superior on carpets with low pile.

One of iRobot's most adored robot vacuums the 694 is a basic model that's a great choice for people who don't wish to spend too much on a robot. It was able to remove most types of debris in our tests, and frequently went over the same area multiple times to give an extensive clean. The flat front of the unit allows to get into corners and along the walls' edges which is a nice addition.

Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt technology to steer clear of obstacles and help you navigate your home. It's not equipped with the mapping capabilities of more advanced models, like our top picks, the i3+EVO and J7+ Series. It can get stuck on phone cords or low furniture and is often unable to supply power before returning to its home base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in most respects, as it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning and is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower recurring costs, comes with more advanced automation capabilities and is more efficient in maneuvering itself. It also has a larger dustbin and charges faster.

The eufy RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 in most purposes, as it has a longer battery life, can change the suction power mode by hand and has physical boundary strips, and is controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It is also more robust, has a more powerful motor, and can perform better on low-pile and bare floors.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a well-known brand in the field of home electronics. It's not a surprise, then, that they are one of the top makers of robot vacuums and mop. Jet Bot AI+ has an advanced onboard technology that allows to navigate and avoid obstacles.

It's easy to comprehend and easy to use, just as is the case with other Samsung devices.

In our tests of the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors, and also handled dog hair (on carpet) very well, picking up 86% of it. The app also makes it easy to steer the robot manually if needed. For instance, my living room rug has a darkly colored border that can trip up some of the other robots I've tested.
